Emily's About-Time Training Log

Better tell your husband to go ahead and start making plans for your new gym out back. This is how it starts.

Oh, I’ve already asked him to build a “big room” addition to the house, and we’ve discussed possible locations for it. His ping-pong table can live there, too, if the big room is big enough. I don’t want it to be an outbuilding because of the snow.

I just reminded him that it’s not started yet and he’s asking where I’m going to get the money. What a buzzkill.

CG Max day 47/50 - close lunge, staggered squat, rear delt row, lateral raise, stability ball rollout, single and double arm sweeps - with cardio warmup.

OMG, I loved today! I swear I can suddenly see all sorts of stuff going on (muscles!). I’ll do a progress pic eventually, but nothing ever shows in them, really, both because there’s not enough muscle (lol) and because I don’t know how to get it to show. It’s always when I’m in the middle of movement and all of a sudden see all this definition. At any rate, I know it’s there and it doesn’t really matter to anyone else. Except I want to show it to you guys! Because you’ve been here all along and helped me get these massive but invisible gainz.

When you are comfortable, Slap it up! We all know how hard you have been working.

I almost put one up for a fatty pic but talked myself out of it, so I understand.

It’s not that this time, more that it’s really only visible when I move and the light hits right. Also, once the workout is done, I lose interest in taking a pic. I’m hungry and want to log and move on to the next thing.

Back to you…put one up or don’t, but you took pics for the challenge you’re doing, right? You’ll be happy posting it when it’s a “before” and you have an “after.”

But it makes you feel good. Like… “Hell yeah! I’m a total badass!” That’s the stuff that keeps us going.

CG Max day 48/50 - “a good wee mixer today” with hip thrust, pullovers, goblet and “pause in hole” squats, upright row, fwd tilt bulgarian lunge, diamond press - with a two mile warmup walk.

I didn’t think I was going to be able to do this because I woke up sore from the weekend’s two workouts. We also did a 3 mile hike yesterday afternoon after an active house stuff day. But the walk started feeling really good about halfway through and I decided to go ahead with the workout when I got home. I had low expectations - thought I’d just punch the clock as best I could - but it went great! So now only two workouts left to finish the program. I’m excited about starting the next thing, probably Iron again, but maybe not. I’m still deciding.

Not really enough to report, but in the spirit of “it sets me up for a nicer day to do it” I did 20 minutes of cardio followed by a nice, slow stretch session. I planned to do 30 of cardio, mostly because it offers a nice way to stretch and work out kinks, plus the good-start-to-the-day piece, but husband and dog were big distractions, and I chatted and belly-rubbed 10 minutes of my time away.

I lifted three days in a row, plus hikes and walks and all the other stuff, so I feel like I should be carrying extra fluid, but am not, it seems. Tomorrow I lift, then Thursday need to focus on exercising Louie, then Friday I finish up Max.

CG Max day 49/50 - static lunge, arnold press, staggered RDL, pushup, banded hip thrust, rear delt fly - cardio warmup. I was fasted, which I shouldn’t have been - I have a hard time remembering to grab something when I first wake so it’ll be onboard for the workout. I need to do better (echos of Joey Swoll in my head).

I never have this problem!

Not sure if you’re looking for solutions, but I genuinely looked forward to my Finibar back when I would eat before training first thing in the morning. Those things are dangerously delicious, and never seemed to upset my guts. I’d set it on top of my gym clothes and munch while I got ready.

I am out, but when I was having a starvation attack yesterday all I could think about was… I wish I had a Finibar!

I might pick some up for the tastiness of it, but my problem is remembering. I’m like a moth to flame to the coffee, which has maybe 1/4 cup of 1% milk and collagen, so maybe it’s helpful enough on its own, but I doubt it. If I remember I can drink a little bit of protein shake and eat a handful of berries, but I forget all about it.

Laying the snack out or a note is probably exactly what I need. I can leave it at the coffee maker. Thanks!

Random question that may have been asked in the past, but why do your posts have that orange stripe down the left side?

I don’t know! Don’t yours? Have they always been there? Have I been tagged? Am I going to wind up on a list at the fire department, like my grandmother??

Lol. Mine have it too. I think maybe it just indicates that you are the person who started the thread. Or maybe we are both tagged? Makes sense. We both appear to be pot stirrers…

Two mile walk/run with Louie, with more of it run than walk for the first time. At the end, Louie was the limiting factor. I was prepared to run the last quarter mile, but he just wanted to stroll.

The last two times I’ve run, there’s been a difference. It’s just there in a way it hadn’t been before. I’m sticking to my once a week to protect my bum foot, but would be thrilled to be able to run the whole thing as a weekly cardio.

Feeling very happy.

Your grandmother was sketchy, too, as I recall.

It’s in our blood.
