Does the want for them come around a specific time or event? I find myself often addicted to the ritual of consumption rather than the material.
Thats a tough one, cuz those are actually pretty good choices for snacks.
Oh yes, it’s nighttime snacking. A habit. I’m exploring more protein earlier in the day to see if it’ll eventually start cuing my body that the nutrients are onboard, and have also added nighttime greek yogurt w/blueberries in an attempt to get rid of the pointless grapes via protein. But of course I’ve got to control myself and relearn what post-dinner is (“not a child”). I’ve really just refocused myself on weight loss after a tough month in terms of all sorts of stuff, starting with a vacation and ending with a three day power outage, but this time I’m trying to play with satiety and am going to look at scheduling my training and cardio differently.
I agree! All in all, I feel pretty good, and think I’ve found a workable steady state. The only problem is that I’m 5-10 lbs heavier than I want to be. But I’m also still prioritizing the training piece over the diet piece. I know I’m adding muscle - it’s visible - but I have the exact same flub covering it that I did 6 months ago. It’s not terrible, and this may ultimately be where I land, but I kind of want to see what the training has wrought.
Pic from a month ago. Awkward and non-muscle-y, but pretty good idea of general where-I’m-at.

Iron day 8/30 - glutes and hammies - 15 minute/1 mile cardio warmup. This was a good one.
Looking awesome in a sun dress- Achieved.
And is that the lobes of the rectus femoris I see on that right leg? I’m thinking it is!
Doing great, especially for a candid non-muscley shot.

30 minutes/2 miles on the treadmill, 15 minutes of it hard (for me) sprints. I’ve typically done EMOM, but am trying this instead after listening to female-specific, age-appropriate training recommendations.
I got up there to what we call “the running room” because it has the treadmill (the other room upstairs is “the big room” because it’s bigger) and it was like I was completely out of touch with the whole process. The TM itself was covered with a desk pad that needed to be flattened because I’m reestablishing a home office (in the big room, lol) and the books that were flattening it, the fan was all woppy on the books that tilt it to just the right angle for me on the TM and was facing the wrong direction because somehow it’s become loosened. But okay, fix all that (except the loose fan, that will need more attention) and got on the treadmill, turned it on…then stood blankly, trying to figure out what was wrong. My music! I hadn’t brought my phone with me. So back downstairs I went, got the phone, and then started looking for the cord that connects it to the speaker wire, because the old connector was for my old phone, and it’s different now. Had trouble finding it because it was already up there. Got everything worked out and did my thing.
So now I’m going to search back and see when I last used it. Probably when I went to 5 days/wk with Girvan in the fall.
Anyway, my plan is to switch one of the lifting days to cardio.

Yesterday’s calories 1301
Iron day 9/30 - full body - 15 min/1 mile warmup. Felt great.
Monday did the same 15 minute warmup but just didn’t have any juice for the strength training, so aborted, then yesterday hit the treadmill but only had 15 minutes because I screwed around too long, so pretty weak week altogether.
Friday, April 11
Weight 155.8
Calories 1362
Iron day 10/30 - back and biceps - 15 min/1 mile cardio warmup. The whole thing felt great, and I definitely see muscles working as I go, which is nicely reinforcing.
I’ve been trying to get my steps up. So far too depressing to record, but the weather is getting better for walking outside in work clothes. During the winter it really requires a certain amount of cold-weather gear and acceptance of either cold ears or hat-static-head.
So: calories down, steps up, incorporate sprints…that’s the plan.
Sunday, April 13
Calories 1248
Those calories don’t seem right. I ate a pile of Halloween candy and also some potato chips, but I can’t see what I’ve failed to log. I did have grilled trout for dinner, though, so maybe it all balanced. Too, I had an ice cream sundae for lunch on Friday, so it’s all pretty slip-shoddy anyway. Still! I’m working on it as best I can without being an asshole to my loved ones. And also grabbing some chocolate when I feel I need it, which had nothing to do with my loved ones, though they/he joined me.
Today was Iron day 11/30 - legs - with 15 minute/1 mile cardio warmup and a 5 minute treadmill cooldown.
Today:
Tan + muscle!
Very nice!

Iron day 12/30 - cheat and triceps - 15 min/1 mile cardio warmup. This felt great. My legs from yesterday, not so much.
Look at that bicep girl! Suns out guns out!
And then I saw YOURS! So awesome!
Looking great . Well done
For all your talk of cheats & treats, your torso looks VERY lean!
Way to get after it! WooHoo!

Thank you - it’s not, really, though. That’s tensed and I can’t go through life tensing everything, lol. However, I’ve definitely been recomping over the past year and a bit. I felt gross and matronly in January 2024, and I mostly feel like myself now (my self who needs to drop weight).
I guess the weird thing is that my clothes still fit the same (I’m not in smaller clothes) but they look satisfyingly different. I think even five pounds of fat loss would do a lot for me. That may be impossible, though.
Today: 20 minutes TM recovery walk. My legs are still super sore, and I think I may have strained a hamstring. I played Nerf war (8 combatants on 2 acres), which may be the problem rather than the leg workout earlier in the day. I’m bitter about the weight increase because I was good for an entire day (yesterday) though on Nerf war day I did eat Dominos pizza and ice cream cake. It was our foster kid’s birthday. Next weekend we’re going to the big 250 year parade and celebration of the battle of Concord. I’m sure THAT will be a clean eating day!
I’ve increased my creatine because I need more help with recovery, so there’s that, too.
Thursday, Apr 17
Treadmill again, as glutes and hamstrings are up next on my schedule and I’m not ready for those. In fact, I may skip this workout and do a full body tomorrow instead, then just move on from there.
So today 25 minutes on the TM, with a handful of sprints thrown in. I was on yesterday, too, for a recovery walk.

Nothing to complain about today!

Expecting a hike today as well.
Happy Easter, everyone!
