Elbow/Arm Problem

First off, i would like to say hello. I am a 25 year old competitive bodybuilder.

Recently on a vacation to the Dominican Republic, i engaged in arm wrestling with a monster Dominican guy. Everyone down there tried to arm wrestle me any chance they got. Seemed like every 5 steps i was called “Rambo” or they flexed at me lol. I am about 5’10" 225 lbs. and this guy was about 260.

Anyway, i vowed no more arm wrestling years ago.

Well i won, twice, but at a cost. I have some bad pain in my right arm.

The pain is a dull ache when not using the arm. However, when i bench or do any sort of press…ouch. Its a throbbing pain in my elbow.

Curls seem to not aggravate it. I am thinking tendon injury (strain)? The pain seems to be in my general elbow, forearm. Slightly radiates to my bicep.

I have an appointment with the ortho on Feb. 9th.

Any thoughts?

I also apologize if i posted in the wrong area. Couldn’t find an injury forum and arm wrestling is a strength sport so i figured i would ask here.

Careful with internet-diagnoses…

From my limited experience, an MRI is usually recommended if you want to be relatively certain.

There are a few medical professionals who post in this forum, a pm to Professor X (only one off the top of my head but I do believe there are more) might be a good idea.
Also, Eric Cressey (author, should have a locker here) might be able to help out.

I’d leave arm-wrestling be unless you seriously train for that kind of thing…
Injuries like that aren’t worth the slight ego boost you may get from besting random people.

A swift recovery and congratulations on your physique.

Thank you for the reply!

I’d be a liar if i said alcohol isn’t involved. I am pretty dedicated to my training. Said to myself “Week off will be great! Eat normal, have a drink or two”

Then this happens.

This site is great, trying to figure out how everything works though.

I think a little time off would help. Maybe start taking some anti-inflammatories.
