A few days ago, I ordered supertraining from EFS. The book itself was $40, but it was also $15 for UPS (for shipping), and now, UPS is asking for an additional $33 for customs. This seems to me completely unreasonable to order a $40 book, but have to pay an additional $55 (when you account for tax) just to receive it.
Has anybody else had this problem? How did you get around it?
You can’t get around it. UPS is horrible for that. Try not to ever use them unless the company paying for the shipping has an arrangement with UPS not to charge brokerage fees.
Yes, the S&H is astronomical. If you have someone in the US that is willing, have it shipped to them (it’s free) and then have them send it to you. It will be less.
UPS sucks! I ordered a $45 item from the US once and they charged me $50 for a brokerage fee. Bastards!
Now I only order from the US if they ship USPS (no or very little brokerage fees) or even Fed-Ex which is much less than those pirates at UPS.

FedEX charges the same now too… I learned the hard way… $140 on $200 worth of snowboarding gear.
This is why coming across great sites with cheap deals sucks… you get blasted with the freaking S/H charges. Its best to do some quick math to see if you actually save any money ordering internationally, then just order from Canadian websites.

On that note, has anybody been able to find supertraining for a reasonable price anywhere in Canada?
