There are a lot of books that i couldn’t find in chapters, and have to order from US. But the custom in US is killing me… it’s like 50% of the price of the book. Where did you all Canadians buy any books related to fitness from?
chapters/indigo
you’ll pay out the nose though
What are you looking for? Isn’t t-mag enough? Ian King’s new Mens Health book is at Chapters.
In my experience, chapters/indigo has most books I needed.
What ones are you looking for? They must be somewhat rare.
That said, Ebay may have them, and I’ve never had to pay customs on an order yet.
Amazon.ca, if not Amazon.com
Customs don`t always charge you tax. About 50% get through.
Zatsiorsky’s book is published by Human Kinetics, so you can get Chapters to order it. It isn’t that expensive but I forget the price that I paid for it. Siff’s Supertraining however can only be obtained on the net… and it’s kinda expensive, but the caliber of information makes it worth it.
Most of Bompa’s books are also published by Human Kinetics, so Chapters should be able to get them. He’s at York U too, so ordering from his site wouldn’t require a border crossing.
If you’re buying from an individual directly you can always ask them to mark it as a gift ![]()
uncle, no… t-mag is not enough…
I used to be satisfied with the “how to”, but now I’m curious about the “why”…
Articles won’t be able to answer that.
Anyways… chapters and amazon. Couple of books that I look for before… Charles Poliquin’s books.
Dan,
Do you know when books will be charged? My books are ALWAYS charged. I’ve ordered a lot of stuff from US, and the custom is killing me.
Like I said, maybe I was lucky.
Do you place big orders? Mine are always 1-2 books at a time, or 3 dvds. It could be package-size related.
Most you can find at Chapters and they will order for you.
I feel for ya.
I ordered Ian King’s Gett Buffed awhile back and ended up paying more than the book cost on shipping and customs.
But you can find others here without having to shell out the extras.
