Whats up everyone, I go to the gym around 10 pm to work out because it is totally packed anytime before that and its not even worth it to go. Right now post work out I take a serving of isopure whey and a banana and go to sleep. Im going to be purchasing Surge once the isopure runs out to take during / post work out.
I get done around 11pm and go to sleep at 12:30 am is it ok to take another protien shake around that time like Metabolic Drive? Thanks for any advice.
Years ago when I used to train late usually not finishing until after 11 I would chug a straight whey/maltodextrin/water mixture on the ride home and once I got back to the house I would eat about an 8-10 ounce steak plain cooked in the skillet with a little salt and pepper. And would usually go to sleep shortly after around 12:30.
Drake: What’s wrong with banana? I eat tons… :/.
And depending on your goals you should have different post-workout meals.
I personally like to get my blender put in a whole egg, peanut butter, banana, milk and occasionally honey.
That’s my bulking one though and as I’m cutting right now I usually just drink a lot of water and eat a banana lol.
you do basically what since i train late as well…
ur post workouts fine
when u get home have a full meal but try keep it carb free since you’ll be sleeping soon. you could add some almonds too in your meal right before bed as it will give u the healthy fat you need and slow down protein absorption.
and when u wake up in the middle night have a shake. FUCK IT get big

Bananas contain fructose and fiber, which makes it a slow digesting sugar that creates almost no insulin response, which is great most times during the day, but NOT when you’re trying to create an insulin surge to shuttle aminos into the muscle.
And Bruce, both of those PWO shakes are pretty terrible. I mean, no protein PWO . . . when cutting? Shitburgers, anyone looking to improve their body should know not to do that ever!

You are 160 lbs and have been lifting less than 6 months. You are not in a position to give advice, since advising someone not to have carbs before bed is re-fucking-tarded.
IT’S POSTWORKOUT! Thou shalt remember the PWO meal and keep it holy!

Hmm I know I should be having protein PWO but I work out at 7-8pm I don’t like eating passed 6pm unless I can help it.

Didn’t Bruce Lee say “Keep what is useful, discard what isn’t.”? Not eating after a certain time of day is not a useful diet technique (Oprah popularized it!), and making sure your PWO nutrition is spot on is very useful.
I don’t know your goals but the only reason I could imagine someone not eating protein PWO is if they were purposefully trying to lose muscle mass.

that’s called starvation. Cut smart. unless you’re going for the kate moss look, a couple scoops of unflavored whey in water in the evening won’t add too many calories to diet, yet will do wonders for maintaining your physique
Thanks to everyone for the responses. Its not that im worried about eating late at night , i was just wondering if after having a Surge i could just have another shake like Metabolic Drive before bed because its easier than having to cook up a full meal.

If you don’t take in adequate nutrients PWO, you are wasting most of your time in the gym.
The REASONING behind limiting carbs at night, say Berardi style, is that insulin sensitivity is lower at night. HOWEVER, working out causes insulin sensitivity to skyrocket during that PWO window. That eliminates the reason for limiting carbs in the evening.
Actually, limiting carbs at night was a reasonable idea to try based on the circadian insulin resistance effect; however, I’m not convinced it is necessary. DEFINITELY not after lifting!
