GDF-8 homozygous/heterozygous gene mutation

I’m convinced that it is more prevalent in elite athletes and bodybuilders than previously thought.

I thought that there has only one known individual born with this mutation?

I remember they were interested in doing human testing with the new “Myostatin blocker” injections, but opted against it because a child in Germany has that gene mutation and they could just examine him.[/quote]

I’m not a child, ok?

Well, it’s a good thing so many thought he was lying his ass off.

Sucks that the link the OP posted doesn’t seem to work anymore, unless it’s my computer fucking up.

Bumps

Now here we have an eye witness who claims they SAW him do it…but he’s still lying??

Obviously they’re both lying, trolololoooooooooooool

Seriously, PX, you gotta stop arguing with the retards, you’re gonna give yourself an aneurism one of these days…

They saw him RACK PULL TEN plates a side, he claimed to DEADLIFT ELEVEN a side

SO yup, he’s still full of shit :stuck_out_tongue:

Not to bust any balls here, but remember when Akuma posted his numbers in the bench press and military press and everyone called BS? Then when the videos got posted we saw it was a limited ROM and he got reamed for it.

Why’s, Max Charles get a pass?

Max Charles get’s a pass because he doesn’t look like a panda that tried to use an electric razor.

If Akuma kept doing his partial range of motion whatevers up until he preps himself for a contest, and proceeds to win, then do you really think anybody would be complaining about his lifting technique anymore?

I wanted to see more pics of Max Charles, so I did a Google search… and look who shows up on page 2 ---- Fro Presser X!

LOL

Okay, resume thread.

Now, ain’t that charmin’?
C’mon, stop hating on Banderas. He needs all the brotherly love we can give him.

Concerning overtraining and all that (see beginning of this thread): I’ve never understood lifters who’d succumb to this ‘myth’. I’m also surprised people are surprised that you can indeed train each bodypart multiple times a week in a progressive manner.

While CT’s current methods (eccentric-less training, for instance; very cool and effective, but not every gym allows you to hoist a heavy barbell over your head and let it drop to the floor. For the record: I’m not hating, just stating the facts; I’d like to be able to do that kind of training on a regular basis) are surely top-notch, simple fatigue management techniques can also help a lot, without having to be overly creative and stuff.

ok I LOL’d at the first part, haha.

Yes, they would. So you are saying that if someone looks phenomenal they can claim whatever lift they want, do partial ROM and no one will or should call them out on it? But if someone does not look outstanding and does the same they will be attacked for it?

I think that settles it!

You’re missing the big picture here, that was explained to you in the other thread already. Just because Max Charles uses the same terms you would (such as “deadlift”), that does not mean he is referring to the same exercise you are due to any number of reasons… but the chief one among them being, you don’t use POWERLIFTING STANDARDS to judge the claims of BODYBUILDERS. In bodybuilding, your actual visual results matter above all else.

What he calls a deadlift is highly unlikely to be what you would call a deadlift… that does not make someone a liar. There are no “rules” in bodybuilding, everything is completely contingent on the individual. Bodybuilding is not the confused flamboyant son of Powerlifting… They are two totally different things.

When Ronnie Coleman says he squats 800lbs or bench 600lbs, you don’t go and check to see if he’s hitting parallel or pausing at the chest, because that doesn’t matter since he squats specifically to build up his thighs and benches for his pecs - and we’re talking about a former powerlifter in this case.

You don’t judge bodybuilders by the standards of powerlifters. That’s just foolish.

Actually everyone can check Ronnie’s lift’s, they are all on youtube so…

If you are claiming a hugely inflated number for a lift it is not a bodybuilding standard, it becomes a power lifting one.

When you say you can DEADLIFT more than the WORLD RECORD, it becomes a power lifting claim.

I shot a big hairy guy right in his fur covered back. I swear he looked like a bear and I was using a hunting rifle. It doesnt count as murder because I was hunting. Ignorance is bliss.

Why give names to specific lifts at all then. If you can just call something by a name when it’s clearly not that thing what’s the use of even having different names for lifts.

Deadlifts are done from the floor. If your not pulling from the floor youre not deadlifting. End of story. Rationalizing another man’s ignorance is a joke.
