Eagle78 950 Training Log

With those numbers and how you felt afterwards, maybe rethink a 500 deadlift target in new lifting year.

Thank you.
I think it was a good day to lift. I was a little agitated and well rested. Im planning mostly to try and always not fail at a lift. I’ve been pinned on the bench, and dropped down to the safety in the squat rack for hopefully the last time, the last time it happened. At least a deadlift is just straight down ( usually doesn’t break the floor with me)
Maybe 515 is in my future.
Thanks for the encouragement

I’d aim higher. You’re one strong guy.

How do you do your pushups? (old fashioned way)
hands open? (yes) On a fist ?(Not in a million years. Those have always hurt my wrists.)
Like most everyone I did hands open. I’m having trouble with a wrist now and can’t really get my hand flat. Fingertip is way too hard past 10. (As a nondoctor, I think those promote arthritis.)
Just hands open now. (I think less chance of arthritis this way)
I’ve started with making a fist, seems ok . (probably also why you’re deadlifting 495 at your age. I’m jealous. )
Just looking for some thoughts.

In 20s I did clapping and handstand pushups. Occasional handstand ones still; those really built my shoulders. For normal pushups my hands are open; after first few pushups I feel wrist area of my arm bones ā€œdigging into the floorā€. When that occurs I knock out 50 every time. But you mentioned a wrist problem. Maybe look on ebay for push up stands (small, short parallel bars about 6" off floor) for hands to grip while doing pushups.

Started back on my more typical training schedule.
Slow and steady, gained 10 pounds on a quick vacation.
That needs to go, I still need to tie my shoes.

Feeling much more mobility since the yoga.
I used to lather up with horse linament before lifting.
No longer necessary to warm up. Let’s see how this lasts.
