I just found this interesting clip of him on youtube:
Quite a lot of weight for an oly lifter… that’s 500 lbs raw, with no leg drive and sub-par technique.
Nothing else, i just thought it was cool:)

quite alot of weight for an oly lifter…its a hell of alot of weight for 99% of people!
Not even the clown pants can hide the fact that Chigishev is a Terminator though, so it doesn’t count.
Impossible! Olympic weightlifters NEVER train bench!!
I still want to see the video of Kolecki benching some big weight too.

Isn’t that supposed to be on the ironmind tapes?
It’s on the Creating Champions tape, when Szymon was training under Ivane Grikurovi, the same guy who trained Khaki and Asanidze. Kolecki doubles 180, Asanidze triples 140.

99.999…
Lol at ‘a lot of weight for an olympic lifter’ this is a shitload of weight for ANYONE. He did it close grip, no arch, no leg drive, and very quick. He is a beast!
I wish they would have videos of him training I would love to see them.
I have developed quite the man crush on this guy.
The dude is a BEAST @ 278#'s he lost the gold by 1KG to a guy that is 309#'s.

I thought it was only in America they NEVER benched. My coach was banging out sets of 5 with 120 kilo when he was 50 years old and he managed a 180 kilo snatch and 210 kilo c&j when he was at his peak
They must only get sarcasm in America too. (oh and in Ireland :p)

Well I noticed quite a lot american weightlifters on forums claim the bench press is a tool of satan
A lot of the coaches here in Ireland say the same too. The funny thing is, even tho I don’t actively train the lifts I’m still stronger on them than 90% of their lifters!!
Weightlfiting coaches really need to move out of the dark ages in my opinion!!

Where do you train? Finding a good gym in Ireland is like finding a good prostitute in the Vatican…

Hercules Gym in Dublin.
Probably the best powerlifting gym in the country (number one lifter in both tested and untested fed, number one and two junior in the country too. AND we train with the same gear that they run the IPF world champs on - Leoko plates and bars, ER racks), and it’s not badly equipped with weightlfiting stuff either (2 Eleiko training bars, a womans bar, 2 platforms and about 500kg worth of bumpers)
The reason they discourage benching is because it can make some people inflexible overhead. Internal humeral rotation which isn’t conducive to putting weights overhead and a lot of PL’s have some nasty cases of it.
Wasn’t the bench press invented as assistance for the O-lifts?
I remember reading something from Doug Hepburn about how he used it to increase his clean & press…
Well, do they clean and press anymore?.. No. It has little if any carry over into the snatch or jerk. Keep in mind just because there is a video of Chigishev benching doesn’t mean they train the bench regularly either. He could be just fucking around…
very impressive, especially with the cheesy euro house playing
I rarely (e.g. never) post a verbal buttlick for some guy who’s benching a ton.
But this is most impressive. An oly lifter pressing that much and also quite flawlessly?
Reg Park and Arnold were in that region, for all I know.

you must be joking
What… you mean he wuld had to have train his bench to be able to press 225kg?? Surely not :o :o :o
