Dmitry Klokov/Lapikov

Have any of you guys ever really looked at the physique of Olympic weightlifters? I don’t mean in a ‘lets rub oil on him and get him to pose in tiny speedos’ kind of way…

Now in these pics it seems pretty obvious that both Klokov and Lapikov are fairly stacked

I mean they aren’t even lifting here and they look jacked!

and just in case you missed the chigishev bench video

What’s wrong with oiling them up?

Yeah, but they’d be a lot bigger and stronger if they trained in the higher rep-ranges and ate more.

stronger?

Good physiques, but there are ways to look similarly jacked without having to spend several years learning the O-lifts and hoisting 450+ overhead.

If that’s your thing, though, I say go for it.

I figured someone was gonna come on here and start a pissing match eventually. I might as well start it a little early, and sit back and catch some Lulz.

Did you catch the gymnast/ring thread Xen started? Especially the dude that walked on saying ‘
Yeah, but he’d be bigger and stronger if he did traditional bodybuilding and ate more’
. Asshats abound.

I don’t know that it’s that easy to generalize about all Olympic lifters though. The Russians and the Chinese have systems that include a LOT of accessory work with more BB-type rep ranges.

Not sure what the Bulgarians are doing now (Stoitsov’s physique is incredible), but back when Abadjiev was head coach, they didn’t look anywhere near as impressive as Klokov, Chigishev, etc. even though they were performing impressively.
