DZs Summer Log

Beautiful Sunday morning, feeling like an outdoor workout.

Tire flipping, flipped until I was outa gas and needed food.
170 flips is a new PR for me.
I was going across the yard in kind of a diagonal angle, so I was getting in an extra rep.
The total may have been as high as 180.

Good job with the training DZ! Keep it up!

BiggJames

Sorry I’ve been away from here for so long. You’re doing some crazy workouts in your yard. You definitely need to find some kind of strongman competition.

DZ, I thought of you the other day (in a hetero way) while I was flipping the tire and doing the outdoor thing. Feels good to get away from the weights inside and get some sun on your face and bug in your mouth while you workout. 170 flips is nuts. Great job.

Deez, i dont know if you have already posted it, but how much does your tire weight?
ol

Kinda jealous about the outdoor thing, I think I am going to have to start looking around for a tire, etc.

Thanks Eco! I’m sufferin’ today.

I honestly don’t know. I couldn’t get in the back of the truck by simply lifting it. I had to roll another tire up to the back of the truck, then flip this up onto it, then slid into the truck. I’ve guessed it to be around 250-300lb. But I saw a video in another forum of some guys doing farmers out doors, and behind them was a tire just like mine, a 20.5-25 loader. I asked him how much his tire weighed, and he said his was 500. So, again, I don’t really know, it’s a really good workout, that much I do know.

My rocks,120lb,80lb, and 40lb, came from the side of the road. Left by the glaciers, all over the place around these parts. Tire came from a junk yard, free. Cinder blocks salvaged from a construction site, free. 20 bucks for the hardware. Old Lard Ass posted a simple dragging sled design made with an old truck tire, I’m gonna get to making here soon. A lot of guys have sand bags, they’re good for all sorts of stuff. I enjoy being out doors, and it’s nice to get in a good workout right in the yard.

Thanks hel, and BiggJ! You’re right hel, I recently heard one of the guys I did the Spring meet last year, had done a strong man comp nearby. I didn’t know there were strong man comps for us smaller folk. I’d love to do one though.

I have a plethora of cinderblocks around the property, might have to put them to good use in the future. What exactly is your set up for the handles?

Here’s a couple of pictures that I hope will help.

I’m sure there are better ways of doing that Pete, that’s just what I could come up with at the tiny local hardware store.

Weight 206 still, probably shoulda stayed away from the banana bread.

Smashed the shit out of my hand at work on Monday. X-Rays were negative, but I took Tuesday off, and it’s really swollen. Feeling better today, but still can’t make a fist. I have to work this weekend, so I’ll take a couple more days off.
