DW's Pull Progress

once i was doing snatches and about 3 reps into it i got it to the top and started going back a little. some kid behind me hit me with both hands in the middle of my back, so i wont fall over i guess, anyway, my shoulders keep going back and i almost dislocate them again.

Drop the weight as your arms are flying back, then take a step foward. The bar will proceed to fly behind you and nail the idiot.

I have had fools try to spot me while cleaning, snatching and overhead squating. Once, I was stuck in an overhead squat at the bottom, some guy near by comes up on me and I yell at him to give me at least 8 feet of distance or he will get hurt. It’s such an unstable movement to begin with. If I’m failing in a rep I’ll just drop the weight (bumpers) behind or in front of me. People who’ve seen me lift learn to stay away, I’ll throw a weight for looking at me wrong. No…not really.

Deez Weez, good progress (form wise) on the 405*5. The form looks a lot better, still not perfect, but a lot better.

There is constructive criticism, and then being an asshole.

Over the years a LOT of people have given DW constructive criticism, me included. Did he ever listen?? NO!!

All you guys giving good advice to DW, stop. He doesn’t listen, never did, never will.

If anything, we give constructive criticism and DW is an asshole. No point helping, DW knows best! Read the old threads and you’ll see DW’s responses to experienced PL advice. Not very polite in some cases.

Claes

But his more recent posting style has changed considerably, it shows growth whereas the other people here haven’t. Is that what you want? You want DW to be known as someone that can grow and mature but you aren’t?

Impress yourself.

I agree, the tone of Dubs’s posts is alot different. He comes off alot more respectful and knowledgeable. I for one, think it’s awesome. Frankly, I kinda like the new DW and look forward to reading his new posts.

3x bw deadlift is awesome

weasel, are you not interested at all in size gains?

I already did. Watch the pull progress video. It’s at the end.

Here is a video from earlier today:

Great song, awful lift. You have unbelievably bad for on your cleans. But you do seem to dead pretty well.

  1. don’t pull so much with your hands DW, arch your back instead of curving it and use the hips/lats/back to drive the weights upward

  2. pull “trough” then get under the weights

  3. use more leg-force do drive the bar over your head.

my 2c…

Size gains are an added benefit to weight training, but my main goal is strength.

With deads, DW danks it right off the floor, but with cleans the most important point is the 2nd pull…right after the bar passes the knees.

Well, doesn’t a suit help the deadlift at the bottom of the lift? That’s probably why he’s “so strong off the floor.”

Not saying he’s going to get 100lbs out of the suit, but it will help at least somewhat get the weight off the floor.

Unless I’m wrong…

The kind of support you get out of a DL suit isn’t much… It doesn’t carry to the top of the lift. You get a little pop up until mid way up and then its all you. You still have to be strong to get weight off the floor though

You’re definitely working hard at improving, great credit should be given for that. And you have improved a lot, so good work.

On the 325x15 video take a look at your right foot during the last completed rep. Same on the 475x1 video.

A deadlift suit mostly just shoves your balls up your arse and makes you never want to wear it again. And I can tell from that crappy video that DW’s suit is fitted poorly and he is probably getting jack out of it.

In my honest opinion, the only value of a deadlift suit is the additional tightness thru the hips and midsection - akin to wearing a weight belt over those sections - and yes, its does shove your balls into your damn stomach but I don’t think it helps :). Nothing you can wear can help you break the weight from the floor and in fact, a tight suit would only restrict your ability to get your hips down and get in proper position. Think about it gents - what the hell can help you lift the weight off the floor? It has not point to leverage from! And its why DL suits are largely worthless. I’ve owned one and never wore it again instead opting for a loose fitting squat suit which I assure you wasn’t much help beyond the little added support.

Well it would make sense that since it’s so tight that when you bend down it gets even tighter, then as you go to stand up (getting the weight off the floor) it will help “shoot you up” the way a squat suit helps shoot you up out of the hole, and a bench shirt helps you shoot the weight up off your chest. Does that make sense?

I actually think that last video was pretty good.

325x15? I don’t think I could do that.

What the Hell? That entire video wasn’t bad at all. Awww man, I think it’s over. I think he’s learned. I mean good for him and all, but, who will take his place. Theres that clip of the guy floating in the air doing cable crossovers, but thats it.

The reason it doesn’t give you a great carryover is because you don’t get an actual “rebound” from the suit because there is no negative to the lift. It only gives you support at the bottom and makes it nearly impossible to get in proper position. If the deadlift started from the top then was lowered and brought back up then you may start seeing actual carryover’s from DL suits.
