Dumbest Thing I've Ever Seen in a Weightroom

Over the last 2 days at the gym i saw a 160ish pound guy doing 135 lb wt assisted pull ups and dips 1 handed. The other was a guy at the seated pulley rows standing on the bench with a dbar in hand doing lat raises.

My own video of a woman at my gym. And before you post and say “At least she’s getting some exercise!”, the treadnill is going at 1.0 KPH, that’s less tah 1.0 MPH. She burns about 80 calories in 30 minutes or so that way!
Um, Free Flo Do? FRE FLO DO comes to LA! - YouTube

If I used a treadmill, it wouldn’t be one next to her.

This is probably a better one… at least the start of it looks like the treadmill Chun Li.

funny treadmill accident

jaja i laughed my ass off, i even cried, i was even sweating for laughting so fucking hard.

another one.

LMFAO I suppose that’s one way to keep the treadmill from being boring. It’s like she’s training for that video game where you need to physically step on pads to score points.

A guy in a lacoste polo and jeans benching 60 lbs for an hour.

was this before or after his 2 hours of ab crunches? Either way he’s just doing it to get all cut bro!

Double ball hammer curls.

And natural selection has not yet kicked him in the balls?

Uh-oh… Guess we’re about to evolve into… I don’t know what… Creatures that can walk and live on a planet covered in bosu-balls without falling flat on their faces every 3 seconds?

When I first started at my gym, this old man was walking backwards on the treadmill and making swimming strokes.

Probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Wish I had a video. :(
I sometimes do this for my cardio… without the swimming strokes. I feel it hits the hams differently…

Holy shit, I’ve seen the same lady at the gym too. Was this filmed in taipei?

Yes! I did it at the one on ZhongXiao E. road. I usually go to the one in Tien Mu but once in a while I go to the ZhongXiao one and when I do I always bring my camera with the hope of catching her again.

I go to the one near Taipei Main Station…not sure if that’s the same as the Zhong Xiao East Road one or not. She must be changing her routine every now and then because when I last saw her she mainly did that crazy twist/sideways hop/clap your hands thing all the while making the treadmill slower for 10 seconds, then performing a double hop, and then making the treadmill faster again, and repeat. It’s almost as if she’s imagining herself on a never-ending catwalk in a music video from hell.

Come to think of it, I tend to see some bizarre shit in California Fitness. Once I saw a four man smith machine bench press team. One guy was benching on the smith machine, while three of his friends stood near the bar nonchalantly chatting and curling the bar with him for every rep.

I used to go to Taipei Main in the mornings but I like Tien Mu a little better.

Oh man don’t get me started on the nuts there! I’ve seen all kinds of weird stuff in that gym. All of the branches here in Taipei have their own wacky people. At my gym now there’s a little older guy that doesn’t warm up and goes staright to the bench, puts on 245, then has his hips thrust right up and bounces it off his chest 3 or 4 times with the right side about 2 inches higher than the left, then barely racks it. I need to stop what I’m doing just in case he needs help. That story isn’t too bad, but it’s just the one that happened today.

I haven’t seen this in my gym but it’s pretty rediculous.

I’m willing to bet he can’t even deadlift that much weight.
That’s terrible, did the bar even move?

He’s so painfully skinny, even I can call him a stick

I was watching this dude load up as many plates as he could on the leg press and then proceede to barely do half reps. Also he was wearing gloves for some reason.

there is functional fucker who trains at the gym i work at, you no the type that does everything wrong in the pursuit of functional strength, well the other day i seen him doing a bench press leg raise where he would lower the bar and raise his legs up like a reverse crunch and as he pressed the bar lowered his legs, i just went over to him and asked “In this functional world we live in, in what situation would you be in were you have to press something and lower your legs in that fashion?”…i got no answer.

God damn! son of a bitch!

is that how e-records are made also?

Here’s a video I posted yesterday in a thread of a gu at my gym that does lat pulldowns 4 or 5 days a week like this:

That’s the thing about gyms in Asia I guess…people firstly do things incorrectly (I’ve never seen such short range of motion)
Secondly they seem to think it’s important to do the same exercise every day, or at least every day that hey’re there. Also they will stay in the gym so bloody long…I’ll get to the gym and I 'll pass The-Guy-That-Always-Does-Cable-Crossovers and I’ll do my 45 to 60mins, ride the bike for 20 and shower and come down and buddy may still be doing that.

And guys are either using too much weight so that they can’t control it or do more than 3 or 4 really shitty reps ( I once saw a guy just do scapular dislocates if that’s what it’s called with 315 on the bar) or you see so many guys doing insanely light ffor 20 reps like the guy in the video. There are 2 guys at my gym that do 7.5 dumbell incline bench press for fuck’s sake. There’s a guy that is about 170lbs and about 21 years old that walks on the treadmill set at 1.8kph, which I guess is about 1.1 mph…that’s slower than the elderly.
I’ll try and get a video of that too.

 1. Some kid doing power cleans with a sumo deadlift stance.

 2. some older guy ( mid 50’s ) doing an assortment of cable machine exercises I have never seen anyone perform at any other time. I can’t even describe them. He also wore the Bill Clinton shorts and some sort of head band from the 80’s which added to my amazement.

This was about a month ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/ouroborossss#p/u/6/wjY3yAdYeLY

There was a lot more but I think he saw me catching him on my camera. The cable work on the bosu ball was great. I wish I’d gotten that.

The second one happened Thursday night. I was benching. On my second set when I had just unracked the bar, was locked out at the top and was setting up to start, some guy loomed into my vision and grabbed the bar and tried to pull it away from me. I sat up and yelled at him asking what the hell he was doing. Apparently he thought I was struggling and tried to rescue me. FFS, struggling is when it’s at the bottom, not locked out at the top.

 • On two occasions I’ve seen the same guy load up a smith machine with 20kg on one side, 15 on the other… and then reverse it the next week
 • Dude doing db presses on a swiss ball and falling off…
 • Old guy who picks up 35-40kg db’s, throws them right back and does hammer curls with full momentum. Same guy also does lat raises with 27-35kg db’s, arms at 90 degrees in front of him

really skinny dude 1/4 squating working up to 300lbs and rubbing his kneecaps in obvious pain between each set.
