Dumbbells for Bench Presses

Hello Dr. Darden. In your opinion, is there any downside to using dumbbells rather than a barbell for bench pressing, other than the obvious extra time to load the plates? I find a that using a neutral grip with dumbbells is more forgiving on the shoulders and elbows. It also seems like some of the early Nautilus machines were designed with a neutral grip that can best be replicated with dumbbells. Any insight that you would provide would be appreciated. Thanks
