That would be admirable if he did that on top of finishing school.
I agree. Itâd also be admirable if did it on top of leaving school and getting a good job/trade.
well the issue here is that you might end up getting a trade you hate, which youâll just abandon after a while, meaning a few wasted years.
If you finish school then that gives you a couple more years to think about what it is you really want to do, as well as opening up a lot more opportunities academically.
Itâs a tough call. I finished school and went to uni to earn a useless degree which never got me anywhere. Other people I know left school, got a trade and are earning stupid money, but others I know did the uni thing, got amazing qualifications and are now earning staggeringly good money.
Itâs one of those annoying times when you donât know what the right thing is. You just have to make your decision and do the best you can with the consequences.
If you donât plan on furthering your education (college, uni, etc) then staying in school might not be the right thing, but I wouldnât leave school purely because you hate it. If you do leave, then have a plan.
You can do an AMRAP set on BTN, just be sure to keep your form in check the whole time - no cheating is allowed here. Some people do experience pain in their shoulders with BTN AMRAP sets, if you start getting it, itâs best to drop the AMRAP set out.
Experimenting on yourself is a great way to learn if you know what youâre doing.
Yeah i have alot to consider, the good thing about a trade is il be able to pick up other trades easier if im decent at say bricklaying etc il be able pick up an electrician trade easier then if i didnât do bricklaying. Another benefit is getting paid while doing an aprenticeship and i can save up for a car easier then some after school hours job or weekend job would allow me to.
However if i finish school- it will open up better pathways like you said and i will be able to buy a car drom the betyer job from my better education.
Il see how it goes, im just a bit wary after reading all of the "btn kills your shoulders and causes injuries " stuff thats everywhere online. However i think this is because people do to much bench pressing and not enoigh overhead work so there shoulders just mess up even more and they blame btn presses etc. 40-50 years ago it was quite a popular exercise whereas today its bench.
The main thing to consider is that you canât do a trade forever and you wonât like it forever. The benefit of going to school is that even you donât enjoy what you do aglfter you get a degree, you can still do a trade. It doesnât work the other way around. My father makes a decent wage as a mechanic. My grandfather cleared well over 6 digits multiple years owning his own plumbing business. They both hate their jobs and can barely move everyday. My dad has told me multiple times in my life he hates everything and canât stand cars anymore which is sad because that used to be his life. Rather than worrying about school, a trade, etc. I say you should finish school because itâs not like you arenât being taken care of, and tackle issues when they come, and do something you enjoy rather than for a job. Myself and many others here have had to pay for schooling while working 40+ a week at jobs you hate to get soemwhere better (hopefully). To me anyway, for you to not take advantage of someone else paying for things for you is almost like a slap in the face.
I wanted to add too, that jut because you donât enjoy something doesnât mean you should quit it man. School is easy as fuck. Even youâre a bum fuck idiot who barely goes to class you can graduate. Life and actual jobs are not like this, so itâd be better to learn this AFTER you graduate so you can have an opportunity to go to college versus having to get a GED and then go.
Yeah, nowadays people spend so much time on their computers and cellphones with a hunched postrure - if they go to the gym bench and curls are the only thing they do. No wonder everyone has tight shoulders and pecs! Then when they try BTN their limited mobility makes it a very dangerous movement and there you have it; shoulder issues
Itâs really a shame that people do so little overhead work nowadays. Itâs something that everybody should be good at.
Donât know what kind of math you have, But for myself i always sucked (suck) at math to.
I went from a 2,5/10 to a 8, in my last year of highschool, took allot of effort, and studying, but it was hella worth it.
Ps, congrats on the 70kg push press!
I donât have anything to add to all this adult talk but Iâm quite good at maths. If thereâs anything you need explaining Iâm happy to help.
Edit: Congratulations on that push press, thatâs some serious weight over your head.
How do you suppose that? Those arenât even remotely close trades.
I see your logic here but it doesnât really work like that. The amount of time and energy youâll invest in getting a trade means youâll really only ever realistically do that once, so if youâre not absolutely sure itâs something you want to do, then donât.
Letâs think about it another way: What do you like? (Serious question and donât just say girls and working out)
Another reason why you should stay in school
Who, me?
my bad man, I meant to just quote his post, not yours. I agree with your point
Thanks for that man!, i have to have a big think about what i want to do.
Ainât that the truth lol Also apprenticeships can be pretty boring for the first year or two⊠You just get stuck doing shit jobs no one else wants to do.
Sometimes yes, but not in all cases.
In my 1st 2 years as a furniture maker I was making chairs, tables, restoring antiques, driving loaders, working on a timber mill, driving forklifts and making deliveries all over the south east of qld.
Some apprentiships I would consider for @duketheslaya :
Apprentiships I wouldnât do:
