Fell behind on reading your log so only just seen this, hope your okay buddy. Sounds a shit situation, stay strong.

My dad’s childhood was pretty bad, alcoholic dad that beat them up all the time and took all the money for alcohol. It ended for them when one of my dad’s older brothers knocked him clean out, I think my dad’s mum realised that if she didn’t flee then one of her kids would end up killing him.

My dad despite his experiences or maybe because of them grew up to be the greatest dad anyone could wish for, I’m hoping one day you will do the same.

Update, Warning long post like all my posts lol

Today went and checked out the boarding quarters. There’s a pool, Study areas/computers etc, pool tables, entertainment areas/ rooms, outdoor basteball ring, Gym ( The gym has like no equipment but its okay will have to make do until i sign up with a proper gym i can go to) It has a barbell, some ancient plates (the weight doesnt go that high so i cant rrally deadlift etc and there not regular plate sizing) and a bench station. No rack tho which sucks but i clean the bar for front squats, presses etc and do lunges or bungarian split squats, Romanian deadlifts. Can do barbell rows, suitcase deadlifts and lots of stuff. Also a pullup/dip bar combo.

So yeah pretty limited but better than nothing. Fuck it i can still make gains with no power rack and limited equipment.

Also theres a shared minifridge and you’re not allowed your own fridge so il just stock up on cupboard food and whatever everyweek and buy lots of protein powder and get massive gainz. They provide you with three meals a day which is good. ( kinda like a buffet, so i can stuff my face anyway) sucks though because im used to eating like every two hours lol/ constantly stuffing my face. r.i.p.

things like bread, peanut butter, microwavable meals/shit like curries and rice that you store in your cupboard will be my go to for snack gains. all that kinda stuff etc

What triggers me is theres like 10 cardio machines like wtf?? Shoulda bought weights instead.

Anyways the boarding place il be staying at has stuff all people. Like 10 girls and 10 ish guys give or take. The staff there are hella nice and friendly too.

Rules are pretty strict compared to what im used to but it will benefit me in the long run. E.g have to hand in your phone at 9:15pm and get up at a certain time everyday. This benefits me to learn a strict routine and i always stay up too late on my phone anyways. I think being at boarding school is really good for focussing on my studies. Lots more rules too but there rules for a reason.

I have a few mates at the boarding quarters that I’ve known for a while already so thats good.( One of my ex girlfriends may be going, but so far shes going to a different boarding school) thank fuck lol. Also some mates at the school as well. So yeah boarding and going to a new school seems like it will be alot better than i originally thought it would be, i just panicked because like new school and new situation and anxiety etc but allg. A few of you guys said boarding school wont be that bad and you’re right. @MarkKO what were your experiences like at boarding school?

Also my new school has alot more subjects then my old one which is pretty great.

So yeah will update further when i start which should be on Tuesday.

Thanks heaps man.

Happy Australia day to you too!

Fuck hell yeah Duke… you’re gonna love it.
I’m looking forward to hear how things move along.
As I said before, my kid (17 year old boy) goes to boarding school right now.
He LOVES it. It’s a gymnastic boarding school, and the season for shows start in about a month from now.
You can deadlift with the weights available.
So happy for you man. I really hopes things go well.
The strict rules will suit you good, it’s something parents are forgetting these days. Pull a line in the sand, set some rules.
The first weeks will be like fuck why do I have to do that. But it’ll come to you.
Good luck young man

When is your school starting?

Thanks heaps brother @mortdk! Boarding seems like it’s going to be great.

I agree so much with that! I see little kids at the age of 7 running around cursing etc. If i was to swear at that age id get my mouth washed out with soap or the chilli sauce. That teaches you some respect real quick lol.

Thanks man.

Thx dude. Hows leadership training going?
School starts January 31st i believe, but i have to be at the boarding place by the 30th.

@duketheslaya I got a scholarship to a boarding school in pommieland (google Oakham School if you want). It’s big - there were around 1500 pupils when I went there - and old: it’s been a school continuously since the 1480s. Apart from the physical stuff that goes along with all that I think the structure was probably similar: up at a certain time, bed at a certain time, do your homework at a certain time. There were lots of mandatory activities too, which was cool. Most revolved around sports, but you also had a few hours a week where you had to do either cadets, Duke of Edinburgh award or community service.

I think you’ll enjoy it and do well.

I’m glad you posted this. Duke needs to see that he can stop the cycle and choose a different path!

Thx for that info. We get excursions on weekends which are free e.g movies, trampoline places, just going out and doing stuff etc which is pretty cool. ( you have to go to them though, thats why they are free) either that or you get picked up for the weekend to stay wherever.

How did you get a scholarship to a pommie school btw, thats far away from Aus? Or are you from England originally?

Cheers mark! I hope so.

Wash your mouth out young man! :joy:

Nah, I grew up overseas. Dad died when I was 11, relationship with my mum went south real fast. She sent me to boarding school when I was 13, but couldn’t afford it so I had to get a scholarship.

I just watched a Netflix video on the 2008 CrossFit games. It’s changed a lot since then but I think you can do a lot with the equipment you have if you open your mind up to new stuff. Complexes. Deadlifts>hang cleans>front squats>push press>RDL’s. You’ll be smoked. The '08 Games only had FOUR events. Three on day one and one on day two. One event was a 275 lb deadlift x 5 with 10 burpees. Repeat for like 10 rounds. The final event was 30 squat cleans + jerk with 155 lbs for time. You can do stuff like that and still grow. It will also roast off any fat you might have.

I’m glad to see you’ll soon be living a world of structure and rules. Americans are missing that these days and the up and coming generations are little shits. When I went to the State Police Academy they took away our phones and watches during ā€œHell Weekā€. Our class leader was the only one allowed to have a clock so he could get us where we needed to be on time. We received a manual detailing everything. How to make the bed, how to hang up clothes in the closet, how to display your shoes, everything. Was it ridiculous? Yes. Was it necessary? Yes. Was it enjoyable? Hell, no. But those of us that persevered are better for it.

A young man like yourself needs to structure in his life whether it’s at home or a boarding school. I’m happy for you and hope to hear success stories in the near future.

If you’ve got a barbell, then you’re in business. Plus, the buffet will provide Unlimited GainzZz. Also, you can do a heck of a lot with pull-ups and dips. Stick with it man! I’ll be following :muscle:t2::muscle:t2::weight_lifting_man:t2:

I think this might be an encore link, but never hurts to repeat yourself.
