Drinker with a Gym Problem

that beer is sounding better and better. duh- it’s game day. no excuse needed to have a cold one…perhaps it’s just coincidental timing, but i’ve actually been drinking more since i started this journal. good thing the title reflects what’s really going on…

and the company was great to boot! still haven’t got my nap yet…really need to go do that.

i’m thinking today will be mostly leg day. i need the most bang for my buck.

the weekend was topped off by a trip to Napa yesterday (+4 Shafers, 1 Hillside to the collection) had deeeeeeeliious lunch at Tra Vigne (Michael Chiarello’s place if any of you know the name) OMG, handmade herb infused pasta, slow cooked sonoma lamb with a sangiovese sugo (wine reduction…AAHmazing cause i really don’t get off on lamb)

so i will get in the rack again and see how the squats and DLs go. maybe i’ll throw some clean and press to get a full body sorta thing going.

oh, and i’m flying to New York tomorrow for a 3 day business trip. i guess this could be sorta considered a deload week? probably will only get to workout on sat before a freakin Halloween party. after this, i’m cleanin my act up. serious.

legs today…was wiped out in the best possible way (thoughts of vomiting weren’t far away…) so didn’t attempt any clean and press

back squats in the rack: 12 x bar, 12 x95 lbs, 12 x115, 10 x 135, 8 x155, 6 x155 <----oh yeah!! 10 x 115

DL from the floor 10 x 95 lbs, 2x 8x115

threw in one set RDL 15 x 70 BB

2 sets each leg of my “push-downs” (using pad on assisted dip/pull machine) 2 x85 lbs

unilateral work using 15 lbs, single dl, bulgarian split & another i don’t know what it’s called.

15 glute bridge, no weight.

pretty freakin stoked today!! yes, i did not do a full squat on all @ 155, but i definitely got em.

i am freakin beyond wiped out…finally arrived at final destination in Hauppauge, NY. been up since 3 am pacific time and landed at JFK around 445eastern. it is now almost 1 am. driving in the city was a bit nuts. worse was following the crazy freeway/interstate/hwy signs to get out here to Long Island. i was ready to pass out from lack of sleep but mostly lasck of food. the nuts & fruit and power bar i packed did not even come close to cutting it.

i would not be whining if i didn’t have to get up in 4.5 hours…so why am i even posting? ah-i’d miss all the excitement around here…like you missing mah bday Cbear.

totally kidding, it wasn’t like i sent an announcement it was coming…just mentioned all the food/booze that came along with it. did not bring gym clothes for wrkout…be home friday and maybe i’ll hit it then.

thanks kimba! i’m definitely giving it my all. although i think it would be best to drop the weight and see how low i can actually go. i was doing ass to the grass practically at 60. form looks decent from what i can see, but i’m sure it can be better. i do not have the cahones yet to ask someone to video me…or do it myself.

but i suspect that could happen in the near future.

ditto. When I videoed my squat I dropped down about 50 lbs to correct the crap I saw. Do it now, it’s not as big a deal as you think

give me at least a week lead time. i’m bloated and prolly look like shit from the traveling and 2 weeks of extra boozing i’ve been doing. i just want monday to get here so i can start back on consistent clean eats. i’m on vacation as of now, so that makes it harder. i like when i’m at work…easier to eat all my yummy clean food every 3 hours…

today’s wrkout (hung over a tad, mind you) i won’t post all details…gotta get ready for partay…

squats 5 sets, bar, 2x10 x115 lbs,3 x 12 x 95 lbs
hanging clean and press couple sets, 50 lb BB
RDLs 80 BB

did some lunges no weights between RDLS
good mornings (feet on plate)
hypers to stretch
did some standing 40lb BB standing bicep curls for shits and giggles

on a side note, saw some hot ass chick wearing a st. pauly girl type outfit, buns a jiggling out the bottom of the skirt…wish i’d had a camera!

so it’s officially monday and the end of inconsistent eating/wrkouts and drinking due to the festivities and travel. on a real shitty note, a ‘bug’ is trying to get me down. as in cold, or more scary, strep throat. i do a mental trick with stuff like that, and tell them bugs to get the hell out of me. i high dose up on zicam, emergnC, echinachea and usually barely get the ill effects of a cold or whatever. my throat feels like there are hot daggers in it.

so-this is putting a real fucking damper on me attacking workouts this week to get back in the grove. i’m planning on doing somewhat of a detox today, go for all fruit (no, it won’t give me the shits, did it before and i barely pooped any extra) :wink:

i will have to see how i feel in the next few hours before i attempt a wrkout. i think the elevated body temperature will help get the kill going on these fuckers trying to make residence in mah body.

oo good luck. I know you’re a badass and all, but if the bugs slow you down a little, remember it’s just a day or so out of your training and you will get it back fast. But I’m sure you can fight off those bugs!

thanks arachne! no bad ass here…but i’m having a real head trip because of last week’s only 2 wrkouts and spotty eating due to flying cross country. although i didn’t eat total shit for 2+ weeks consistently, there was wine here and there and some big meals with high cals/fat.

that part isn’t as scary as not being able to workout out for a few MORE days. it would only be some pussy cardio today i reckon… :wink:
