Drinker with a Gym Problem

^It is the tiny one, but it still looks pretty delicious to me!

That’s so great about the FREE trip to Vegas! I’ve only been once, but I loooooved it. Best weather ever for frizzy-haired girls like myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope you manage to get lots of relaxation time in while you’re there, you deserve some quality R&R with those long days and killer workouts!

Ugh that sounds too damn hot!
Yummy food though.

Yay for you for getting that bike ride in. Pancakes?.. erm, no? OK

I’m kind of jealous of N’s surprise she’s gonna get from Vegas…
Here’s what I want. For you to come back dressed as a hawt showgirl. Yep, I’ll be happy

Hey T!

Lovin the metabolic as per usual. I think tonight I’m going to try something similar and shorten my rest periods between exercises…

Yes to Vegas!! That sounds awesome. I’m sure its going to be too much fun!

Good idea to rev up the metabolism pre-trip. Those buffets can be outright gluttony!

Vegas…yeah! Have some shenanigans and don’t let what happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas. Some of us need entertainment.

today: 12 hours work. mow lawn in 93°F at 8pm at night. gym for ‘cardio’ 5 min cross-trainer, 10 min intense HIIT, 6 more min cross-trainer. lil stretching. clean eats today except for .5 of a cookie that was so worth it. FDA audits tend to be stressful and big chunk chocolate cookies from Panera help soothe the nerves.

Rach-not entirely free, of course there will be a little gambling… but still a great deal! when it comes to this couple, we tend to take care of each other when it comes to bdays and such-i just treated them for the misses’ bday to fancy champagne tasting with fantastic cheese and fruit pairing + lunch in the napa valley…that’s damn near 2 plane tickets or at least the hotel room i reckon… vegas isn’t too relaxing but it’s just what i need for a little break.

haaaaaaa-nikki- you are a crazy youngster. me dressed as a showgirl? not likely but maybe i can post some other pics if i can get back to a respectable shape…

maschy- i’m not one for buffets…there are too many killer restaurants there (if you are into celebrity chefs like i am-i’m a food whore damnit)…we will be eating at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill (been there 3 times…LOVE IT!!) i need to send you those metabolic workouts…apparently they download fine.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiii kimba!! if nothing exciting happens maybe i’ll make something up…

i can, and will, fit in your suitcase.

just sayin.

what the bear said.

I got two suitcases…shoot. Today: 13 hours work. Jammed to gym for “lactic acid training.” (part of metabolic surge program) supposed to pick a weight you can hit 20 reps with, take 15 secs rest between all sets and crank out as many as you can. Rationale is you fail due to the lactic acid build up and not muscle failure.

Incline DB press: 22.5’s 20, 20,16,11,11,10,8,8
WG pull down: 60# 20, 20,16, 13, 13, 11, 10, 10
Seated horizontal calves: 150# 5x20
Cable bicep curls 40# 20, 15, 30# 15, 11 20# 10

Hypers, rotator cuff work, done. Starting to see a little shrinkage on the belly…this is motivating. Tomorrow night will involve drinks to wrap up the week of hell with audit going on and say goodbye to my co-worker. A co-worker who taught me nearly everything I know when it comes to bench work microbiology. There have been a lot of tough times but I’m grateful and indebted for all she’s taught me. 5.5 years together and she is leaving a void in our group that will be tough to replace. This also means I will be even more swamped and stressed. Such is life…

Yay for belly shrinkage! Boo for more stress! I hope that doesn’t come to pass.

bummer on the added stress. your work life already sounded like more than most can take.

what else is new?

thanks kimba and deja…yah-i probably sound like a big whiner. it’s not the work that drives me mad. it’s the fact that i can’t keep a consistent work out program because of the work hours. :frowning: and gaining 5 or so lbs doesn’t help my mental worries. it’s all good, trying to take it in stride. my career is at somewhat of a turning point, so it is in fact more important than working out right now. i have the opportunity to do some really important shit and hopefully get recognized for it. let alone the fact that it’s a do or die situation for our entire site because of a new product launch that has not gone well. so everyone is stressed and when you think of the possibility of not having work, you are driven to work even harder. well, at least most of us here.
working out is life long for me so i know this inconsistency will pass. the good news is that on the nights i get home after 12-13 hour day and i don’t go to the gym, i try to tennis ball and foam roll…YAY!

blah blah-enough of that crap. so at least i got in 2 workouts this week and will make it tonight. both days started off with DLs and then went into a full body circuit kinda thing. still playing with rack DLs because of the tailbone pain issue that flares if i try to pull from the floor. now if i could just get some more HIIT sessions in, i’d be doing pretty good.

happy friday and have a good weekend all!

Something is better than nothing; full body work does just as well as anything else.

you already said everything i would.

so, go be a big deal.

thanks bear, i’m working on it…

last week had 3 pretty killer sessions of metabolic circuit training 'cept i made up my own version. 2 days of rack DL work, several sets @ 185 (still limited from tailbone) did plenty of DLs after a solid warm up and glute activation stuff then did remaining: several exercises for back, hams and bis along with the 40 sec cardio stuff. ended up with about an hour of solid weights w cardio rest periods followed by some HIIT. hams were super nice and sore for days after.

did that 2x and third workout was same scenario but hit chest, shoulders, tris and quads. yay for more cardio after, and a separate HIIT session on the non-lifting day.

had a fantastic weekend in Vegas. 4th meal i’ve had at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill (in Caesar’s) fabulous food, great atmosphere, great friends. the other dinner at Mario Batali’s Carnevino at The Palazzo was good but pretty damn pricey. at least the sommelier picked out a delicious bottle of wine that didn’t cost as much as the dinner.

too much walking in flip flops (idiot me, trying to look cute rather than wear comfy running shoes) has the outside of my foot feeling like something is broke. this slowed me down tonight.

did some random stuff tonight, rest periods short but not circuit style:

WG pull down 75 3 x12
seated cable row: 90 3 x8

waiting for rack to open, did wee bit of legs: leg extensions and seated leg curls 100 2 x10 and 85 2 x10
rack DL: 135 x8,8
185 x 5,5,5
135 x 10, 10
cable bicep brotard curls 50 x10, drop sets from 40, 30, 20 to failure

called it a night. i get +points for arriving to gym at 7 pm to find no parking and from what i could see, a packed gym. promptly turned around, came home and caught up on some PW. then went back after 8.

you forgot to take me to Vegas with you!! Sounds like a good time. That place changes so much every time I go back. My Mom has lived there for 25 years now!

Glad to hear you are still doing what you can!!

wow you actually made it back! I would have totally crashed and burn and blamed the gym. you rock T.

Double bonus points for coming back to the gym and killin’ it. You are showing your true motivation by training even when its SUPER inconvenient. My respect.

Sounds like you had a great time. And wow, dedication! If I’d have turned up to a full gym I’d have gone home, put my feet up and settled in for the night.

T’s BACK!

I’m jealous of your Bobby Flay meal.
Good stuff in the gym, of course.

I’m a workaholic with a gym problem. It gets me in alot of trouble with the wife.
