Sounds like a reasonable plan to me. As much as I hate saying and hearing it, cutting alchool usually drops me down 3-5lbs.
That sounds hard ![]()
Day 1?! That on Day 1?
I can’t imagine doing that, my rest consists of talking to everyone within a 5 yard radius of me for 3 minutes. It’s bad, I know. Which is why I have to do extra stuff, I hate when all of the lactic acid is cleared.
I’ll see what I can do with that haha
good luck getting the pants buttoning properly again. ;+)
my idea- STOP WEARING PANTS.
Wine, although delicious, is a hard one when it comes to weight gain. Good luck with the cut!
nikki- it’s challenging in that it taxes your endurance because your heart rate is up the whole time since your rest periods are cardio bursts. i prefer jump roping but mine broke. you work with a moderate weight that should be taxing for 6-8 reps…it’s gooood stuff. you will be sweatin’ like you stole something…
yep nlmain, cutting the booze is the easiest way to drops some fat/water. unfortunately that just doesn’t seem to be in the cards for me. which is fine-i’d rather up my training and watch the foods and still enjoy the vino on the weekend. i ain’t trying to be fa lean for fuck’s sake…
thanks deja! yep, miss bear…pants off is generally the best way to go.
yesterday: day 2 of the metabolic workout. although it’s 4 days later than the last one which should have followed it. shit blew up at work and the weekend came. bday celebration for the misses. yay for champagne tasting in the Napa Valley and a freakin awesome dinner with friends.
dinner was a fresh halibut topped with crab with a light lemon butter sauce atop a bed of mashed potatoes with herbs, broccoli on the side. i veered from one of the house favs i’ve been eating for 10 years- knife and fork baby back ribs…omg soooo good to try the halibut. it was a great detour.
oh year-circuit training yesterday:
40 secs of cardio between all sets is the rest period
seated DB press: 20’s 5 x 8
tricep push-downs with D-handle bars for first 3 sets: 70# 3 x8
had to move over to cable over head with back to pad hard kind: 40# 2 x8
couldn’t do squats with this circuit stuff-rack too far from cardio equip. so i tried some front squats with the 70 BB that i had to carry all the way across…a bit too tired to carry on the rep/set scheme. so i skipped to stiff-legged DL with that bar: 4 x 7
finished off with silly leg extensions 115 # 6 x8, just kept the rest to about 30 sec no cardio.
went back to elliptical to keep the heart up, finished off with lying ham curls 75# 3 x 12
hypers and a little stretching.
note: i’m thinking i need the taibone situation looked at by a doc. it hurts at certain positions and i’m afraid there is a hairline crack or something. unless a bruised tailbone lasts for 6 months. it’s limiting a lot of stuff i can do.
today: did day one of metabolic program, back, chest,bi’s and calves, 40 secs cardio is the rest period between sets
did a pretty thorough warm-up, started with the seated cable rows and then saw the rack open up. so i went for some rack DL work. DL from the floor is really putting a strain on my tailbone (as are split squats and single leg DL among other things) this is extra from the program, just wanted to get my DL work in today
rack dl (the bar is permanently set from about 4 inches below my knees)
135 2x10
185 6,5,6,6,5<<<my grip was weak sauce and limiting, weight seemed fine
did body weight squats between sets since i wasn’t doing cardio for this stuff.
did some with the bar at the end, moved to circuit training for remainder of workout.
seated cable rows: 90# 6 x8
DB chest press off big ball<<<<i explained this before. 25’s 6 x8
BB curls 40# 4 x8
used leg press to do calf work for first 3 sets, 115# x 12
seated horizontal calf press: 170# no more cardio between sets, 3 x 15
added my “leg push-downs” off assisted chin/dip machine, 85 # 3 x 12 for each leg.
hypers and a decent amount of stretching.
i’m trying to mentally prepare for what work will bring my way. y’all heard me whine about how bad it was before…they fired our site head amongst all the problems we’ve been having. big changes coming our way for sure and now and my former supervisor but now co-worker is leaving us to go to another division at another site. we are now recruiting for 2 positions but we really need 3. hello 14 hour days again. and i’m supposed to go to germany and switzerland for work last week of september into october…it will be a challenge again to keep training consistent but i’m damned determined to make it happen.
That halibut meal sounds delish! yeah for trip to Germany with the misses and hope things turn out for the best at work…
T, take an hour to go see the doc about the tailbone. Six months is too long to still be in pain.
Work shit is so annoying. Why can’t we all have a trust fund already???
Where in Germany and Switzerland are you heading?
Oh goodie! I love reading the metabolic training!! Always gives me great ideas.
And great training woman! Glad to see you’re hitting it hard. Squats and rack pulls? Sounds killer.
And yes, get that tailbone looked at! 6 mos. is a long ass time.
I know you can do it T! If its one thing PW have its determination!
So jealous re: your vacay - beer and chocolate…I mean, seriously?

Same here…I drop alcohol consumption to 1/4 of what I usally imbibe, and I can drop 8-10 lbs in 3 weeks tops.
of course, I’m an ass to everyone I know and to everyone i encounter on the freeway or at the store. But I digress…
Hi Talena!
T, your training is absolutely kick-ass! I love seeing these fat-loss plans in action. How’re you liking it?
Like others have said, you should definitely make the time to get your tailbone looked at already!
I’m sorry to hear that work is going to get crazy again. I’ll be right there with you trying to fit training into a crazy class schedule in a few weeks, if that makes you feel any better. ![]()
finally made it to the gym last night. unfortunately i’m out of time to post last night’s and today’s stuff. metabolic shit…got some rack DLs in last night. maybe i can post it tomorrow…
yes-agreed-i must make the time to go to the doc. thanks, gurls! i know kimba is gone but to answer, i’m going to Marburg for a 2 day conference. then i get to figure out where in Germany we will go on our way down to Stein Switzerland to check out another site. Octoberfest will be under way so it’s pretty reasonable we must hit Munich or close to it… ![]()
thanks Maschy-it is for work but i’m glad i was able to take the misses and spend some extra time there. wouldn’t have been quite so fun all by myself.
hi Edgy-good to see ya! hope you’ve been enjoying this unusually cool weather. yah, the booze is the demise of my figure and attitude as well. sometimes, any way. (on both counts)
are you saying you are an ass ON the booze or OFF? ![]()
hi rachelle!! i hear ya-but dental school has got to be intense. you can absolutely do it! and your new gym sounds freakin awesome. so happy to hear that-it will make it so much easier to train!
yah-can’t really complain about excessive work in this economy, but geez it’s ridiculous and the mental stress is what exhausts me. not necessarily the long hours.

Ugh! While this is totally true, I still think it sucks that employers feel its ok to overwork their staff under the pretense of a shitty economy. Ah well, such is life.
Glad to see you’re still hitting the gym! Keep at it woman! If anything, the physical work should help alleviate any mental stress. So that’s good!
And at least you have the work-vacay to look forward to. It’ll be much deserved, thats for sure!
Off-
On, and I’m relaxed, friendly, cordial, helpful.
Abstain, and I’m moody, too focused, little attitide problem.
While I’m drinking, I’m that guy that is flirty, hanging on people and hugging. I get tall and good looking when I’m partying.
AND…the weather has been fantastic! I’t hovers around 80-90 during the day, cools off to the low 60’s at nite, and has been breezy.
Don’t tell everyone, though…they all may want to migrate to Cali!
Thanks for asking~
Edgy you jinxed us-enjoy the heat spell this week! (for us, heat spell is the 106 they are predicting) i’m glad you are a happy, tall, good looking drinker…![]()
thanks nlmain-never heard of them…
hi maschy-agreed, the workouts help alleviate the mental crap. ![]()
still doing the metabolic type stuff-sunday did rack DLs at 185 before going into the circuit training. (this means 40 secs of cardio between all weight sets)
i hit back, chest, tris and bis-won’t bother with details.
today: metabolic circuit training again…started with a pretty decent warm up, cardio, hypers, single leg DL to loosen my shit up
standing DB press: 20’s 5 x8
seated leg extensions: 100# 5 x8
stiff legged DL: 80# 5 x7
done with 40 sec cardio as rest period-moved on to the remainder with less than min rest periods:
lying ham curls 60# 3 x 8
“leg press-downs” 75# 2x12 for each leg
3 super-sets w OLY bar: 10 squats then 10 MP
threw in 3 x 10 rack DL @ 135 for fun
some more hypers and single leg DL
10 min HIIT + 3 min cool down, stretched.
would really love to get in another cardio session or bike ride tonight…now that i have a Vegas trip in less than 3 weeks. bathing suit is not motivation-won’t be spending much if any time at the pool. just trying to get back where i was and be sure that i can enjoy all the eats and drinks guilt free when we go. one of our best friends is throwing his wife a 40th bday celebration for the 4 of us and decided on Vegas. this means that they paid for the hotel and flight for us rather than throwing a big party for a large group in Tahoe. lucky us! ![]()
Vegas! bring me back a surprise ![]()
so it hit 107 today and should be the same tomorrow. i took my chicken that i had sliced up and marinated since last night outside with my veggies to throw in a wok on the BBQ. it turned out fantastic…yay for not heating up the house any worse.
i took a great pic but for some reason sending it from my phone to email has the picture flipped on it’s side. and then i can’t change it for some reason. it looked so pretty i’m going to post it anyways…sorry for the need to turn your head…
and i got in a quick 25 min bike ride once it cooled down to around 90. it actually felt great. would have rode longer but it got dark on me…
hmmm-a surprise for nlmain from Vegas…i’m on it!

delicious stir fry on the bbq…
and it appears it’s facing the right way-hope it’s not the tiny version i saw earlier when i was trying to fix the damn thing…
