hey thanks to everyone for the well wishes. she is home and recovering from the surgery quite well. she’s been doing chemo for a year and half, this was a set back but we are hopeful it’s not progressing.
so aside from family time, work has been keeping me for up to 14 hours on many days. that being said, i was out of the gym for 9 days. and freaking rain kept me off my bike except for one ride. made it in last night finally. kept the eating in check so it doesn’t appear i got fatter and didn’t re-gain that jump start i got on my program. started catching up on logs and am still trying…
last night: circuit stuff from the program. 40 sec jump rope between each set.
seated cable rows: 90lbs 6 rounds of 8 sets
flat DB press: 25’s 6 rounds of 8
standing BB curls: 40lbs 4 rounds of 8
seated calf press: 190lbs 6 x12 no jump rope between sets.
2 light weight sets of DL for form check. 115 x12
some hypers, rotator cuff work and foam rolling
tonight: more circuit stuff, except my jump rope broke in the middle of DB press so i used the dumb elliptical for the 40 sec of cardio for the rest.
DB shoulder press, 20’s 2 rounds of 8, 25’s 4 rounds-8,6,8,8
tricep straight bar push-downs: 70lbs 6 rounds of 8
no more cardio
squats 85 5 sets of 8
stiff-legged DL, 80 pre-set BB 4 x 10
hypers, foam rolling.

Yes, I would also like to see a DL video! It sounds to me like you are doing more of a stiff legged deadlift like this:
He keeps a nice arch, bends his knees, but his hips and butt stay HIGH as opposed to this:
Where his chest is higher, and his butt and hips are lower… see the difference?

so…obviously i’ve been MIA. according to my time card, i spent 67 hours at work last week. it’s been like that for a while now. so, needless to say, with only a day off here and there, i have had zero time to train. good news is, i mentally accepted i just could not manage it and the workload and thought of it as rest time. bad news is that i did not take advantage and work on the mobility stuff like i could have in the hour or so i had available at night before bed.
made it to the gym yesterday and today. 14 or so days off is the LONGEST stretch in the last nearly 8 years i’ve been training.
yesterday:
some DLs: 2x 10 @115 and 3x8 @135
WG pull downs: 3 x10 @90
bicep cable curls: 3 x something @ 50
today:
DBs flat chest press: 15x 25’s 3 x 8 30’s
flys: 2 sets 10 X 25’s
super set of skull crushers with close grip press 3 sets of 15 w/ 30 BB
tricep stuff with bench dips between sets, several not sure of the count, to failure. 50lbs
did today’s in less than 35 min…yay.
not sure when i can train so i will try to do splits or something. will also try to poke around some journals when i have the time! ![]()

super set of leg extensions/leg curls 3 x 10 w/110lbs
pec dec/fly machine 2 x10 @75 rear delt action then 2 x 10 for flys @75…

Hey T! Meh. Those are long work weeks, but you’re right, looking at it like a rest period is probably the best way to go. Then you can get back into it feeling, well, rested.
That said, glad to hear you got back into the gym! nice workout and in 35mins!! That’s insane.
