hehehe
yesterday would have been squats + bench (cause i missed monday due to crappy allergy/cold thing) but…
on a whim i decided to knock off work early and head to the bay to see what i could get for some coins that my grandma gave me as well as some old jewelery of mine i had laying around. there was a 3 page ad in the paper about this coin/bills/jewelery sale thing going on and pictured were some of the coins i had that COULD be worth a lot.
nothing rare but i did come home with $671 and a slight buzz from the lemon drop (ok, 2)i had while waiting for food to take home from PF Changs. kung pao chicken and mongrol beef…soooooo f’n delicious.
money=good thing
not training=sadness
gym closed on saturdays when i get off work. i go tomorrow but this is messing up my schedule and lord knows who is in there on sunday around 10am…ehh.
and thank you Betty.
Masch and Bear…i’m hoping tuesday might be a possibility. schedule is wacky and i need to combine lifts or break the law and do 3 days in a row. tuesday is the only day of the week i feel up to video. (day time and kinda empty)
T, tomorrow is a holiday. Don’t you get the day off?
Sometimes, you do what you gotta do. But I agree, three days in a row is icky.
you drove home buzzed?!
no MIM…i was good to go before i left! that didn’t come out right…
skye-we are open 365. i’m off sun-tues…i was doing 5 3 1 on m,t,th,f…it will work out fine,thnx
the beauty of 5 3 1 is you can do nothing but your lift. i have plans with friends today so i was rushed this am.
week 2
bench
60 x3
65 x3
75 x3+10
squat
85 x3
100 x3
110 x3 +12
‘accessory’
10 x 95 squat
immediately followed by 3 x 10 @ 100 seated leg curl, 30 sec rest between. outta there.
i’m happy i got in there to wrap up week 2, even if i didn’t do much else today. i’ll figure out this week’s schedule. i’m not against 3 days in a row. i was just listening to the boss lady.
fine, do 3 days in a row. see how it feels. i warned u.

Sorry, T. Wasn’t trying to patronize you or anything like that.
Mmmm. Lemon Drop. I am weak for foofy vodka martinis.
Nice job getting your squat/bench workout in.
oh, nooooh…skye-i didn’t mean anything by that! i was pressed for time, made it a quick post! sorry if that sounded snotty!
thanks kimba…i don’t loooove vodka like i used to, but a good foofy martini is always a treat (as long as it is NOT sweet…uugh!)
week 3 5/3/1 had to do MP and DL today so as to avoid 3 day in a row training due to schedule issues.
MP
55 x5
65 x3
70 x1+7 <<<barely got that 8th one. do believe this is a PR for me with my limited MP experience.
shoulder grinding a bit with 65 and up, so i did 2x10 w/bar to try to get a feel for what’s going on
DL
125 x5
140 x3
155 x1+12 <<considering i did 12 x 145 last week, this makes me happy.
accessory work minimal again
10 x 115 DL
10 x 115 RDL both of these were for really staring at myself for form check and extra work.
DB bench: 30’s 4 x 12
walking lunges, about 15 steps x6 with 25 DBs. holy crap that was cardio in itself since i rarely do them anymore
close-grip pull-downs: 4 x12 75 lbs
i was pretty wiped after this. felt great. need to foam roll tonight.
no video-torrential rains here i’m not carrying any extra crap into gym. i may very well paddle to the gym if it keeps up like it has been.
whats up with the shoulder grinding??
stay dry!
Awesome MP. 70x7?!! you’re good.
nice workout T! now i’m craving a lemon drop.
MIM-my right shoulder has caused probelems off and on for years. sometimes grinding/popping (fish oil and strentghening rotator cuff exercises and shoulder muscles seemed to help) the other issue was electrifying sharp pain through it up to my neck. right now, i have pain not usually when pressing, but small movements (like what Cal said, turning newspaper) where i rotate the arm out from me, pain is hot on top, outer, meaty part of my shoulder. so to answer your question, i’m not sure what’s up. i’m just trying to take it a little easy.
thanks Alisa. i have very limited MP experience, aside from a lot of DB work i’ve done for shoulders. never used the OLY bar prior to meeting you all. ![]()
thank ya Deja. mmmmm-lemon drop. guess you will have to wait a bit. sorry, you know this log is a danger zone for tempting libations and such.
mehbee or mehbee not i do some HIIT or some sorta metabolic stuff tonight. my buns are good n sore from those lunges…![]()

no worries…i seek out the food porn when i’m cuttin. om nom nom!!!
Nice MP and DL! I’m scared when it comes to me doing the MPs - who knows what’s gonna happen.
Yikes - sorry to hear about the shoulder. I think taking it easy is a good idea. Maybe its just a little crotchety. Or, maybe something to do with the rain? At least that’s what my abuela would say, then she’d have you doused in olive oil and peppermint and rolled in newspaper.
Nice DL AND nice MP! Great progress! Good stuff Tal!
So I MUST hi-jack for a sec and give Kimba a foofy vodka drink recipe called a Pixie Stick (WARNING… it IS sweet… sorry Tal! =-/
1.5 oz vodka
.75-1 oz Grape Pucker
.75-1 oz Blue Island Pucker
big splash sour mix
optional: splash triple sec
Shake with ice and strain… then add splash 7up =D
optional: rim martini glass with sugar OR Pixie Stick dust… YUM! Great special drink for a summer get-together…
/hi-jack =D
OMG…i’m a little star-struck!! Molly stopped by my journal. <<<i’m serious, y’all can laugh at me…i’m cool w that.
thanks for checking in AND the cocktail recipe, even if it’s crappy sweet.
i have friends who would love that drink.

Haha you are too sweet! (and HILARIOUS!) and I DO stop by much more often than I post… ;D I am WATCHING YOUUUU! (:::points index and middle finger at eyes and then at Tal and nods::![]()
But seriously… there are so many rockin’ women on this side of the pond now and they all post so often it’s impossible to devote quality time/posting to each log… seriously overwhelming at times!
