Copied from another post of mine: If you look at Jamie Lewis’s old programs, it’s a metric shit ton of heavy lifts (singles, doubles, triples). You know what the secret is? Jamie Lewis explicitly told me he would find people who trained in similar ways and use that has his evidence to why it worked BUT he also said he was always walking, training, or doing something active. He would also use under a minute rests so the lifts weren’t true heavy 1’s,2’s,3’s compared to 5 min rest.
This shake based diet is making life so easy. My gut and digestion feels great. More surprisingly is that my stomach handles stuff like pizza and taco bell better than it did
I’ve been having carbs on and off. It’s more of not saying no to a meal made from someone else. I think the easiest thing for me to is base my nutrition when I’m alone on apex predator and when I’m with people eat more normal (like one solid meal and maybe some carbs)
Not programming has been awesome. I feel like neurotic about everything in general. Lifting as been fun as hell which is amazing.
I’m going to do 25 chins, 50 pushups, and 100 situps everyday until October 26th. My costume for a Halloween party is age of apocalypse Wolverine. I told Jamie Lewis that and he gave me the daily work and said to go jog every now and then. Girlfriend is going as storm
Lastly I’ve been reading comics since I went to the beach. I’ve hit most of the good story from Batman, lots of daredevil, “God loves, Man kills” from the X-men, Watchmen, a bunch of other random stuff, and just starting Age of Apocalypse. I’ve been really enjoying it and granted it’s not like reading real books, it’s a lot better than binging Youtube.
I’m going to start making short videos on mobility stuff I find and use. I always end up forgetting things that I did so it’s more for me
The jeffersons felt great on my hamstrings. I think that’s where the majority of my lower leg tightness is coming from
Now with real investigations. Someone wrote “Love you twink” in my lifting notebook. It was either my roommate or girlfriend. Either way I’m not being the allegations
Upper body:
DB concentration curl: 25x8,10,6 35x8,6
Barbell Curl: 65x6, 45x6,6 (felt something weird in my bicep. It’s fine now)
CGBP with 40lbs of chain/t-shirt touch Larson: 135x6,6/115x7,10/95x8
BW Extensions: 3 rounds close grip into wide grip
Superset
V-bar push down: 25x5x6
Banded dips: 5x8
Notes:
Going to do Death by Sandbag squats with the 200lb bag tomorrow. Saving up leg and back strength for it
Also going to do silver dollar deadlift Saturday. So need to have lighter leg work tomorrow
I end up losing podcast episodes I like and know I will want to go back to so I might as well log them here:
One gem I heard was along the lines of “With nutrition, we can get too much of one nutrient and get poisoning from it. It’s the same way with movement. If you keep moving in the same way all the time, you’ll have issues and weaknesses in a lot of areas”
This was an interesting episode. The discussion of how important different walking terrains are was pretty cool. I live in a pretty flat sea-level area and I find myself popping into the grass or balancing on curbs when I walk, and I was glad to hear I’m not crazy, haha.
@simo74 Immediate flashbacks to how much that sucked. There’s a reason @T3hPwnisher calls it “book of bad ideas” lol. Although it’s been a while since I did it, I might do it next week!
@Stormblessed I love walking on different stuff! I didn’t have as many ankle problems when I was walking in the woods on a regular basis
Daily work: 5 rounds
5 pullups
10 pushups
20 sit ups
Death by sandbag squat: 200lbs-1,2,3,4,5,6 take a full 1 minute 10
called it here.
Notes:
I really wanted 10 reps for some reason. Cardio was the limiting factor here. Operation get back into shape
Around 5 reps, biceps were starting to ache so I switched to gable grip. Sleeves are just for warmth
Knee was feeling 10x better after I did a talus bone mobilization
Apparently if I would widen my squat stance, I could have some pretty good leverages but ATG squats are way cooler in my opinion (I don’t powerlift)
I do have a headache too. Got some bad sleep last night so it could just be that. Workout made it worse but I feel slighter better now that I did it
Stopped at a little French dessert place. I had a Oreo crepe (because America) and a non alcoholic mojito. I am such a huge fan of non alcoholic mojitos now
Kettlebell warm up stuff
13in DL: workup to 415x1
Power clean: work up to 205x1, 175x3x1
Mammoth bar Silver dollar deadlift: workup to 525x1 (probably had 550 but jumped to 570 instead)
Daily work: 5 rounds
5 pullups
10 pushups
20 situps
Notes:
@T3hPwnisher That was a weird deadlift. I thought I had it locked out and then it would finally break the ground lmao
It’s weird to decide if I’m getting stronger or not. I feel like I am but I think I have a decent amount of fatigue blocking me from the heavier numbers. I’m using high percentages of my weights with low reps and everything feels fine so that’s some growth
Weighed 183lbs. The smallest guy at strongman Saturday, which I need to keep in mind, but holy shit there were some strong guys around today. One dude pulled 645x5 on 13in deadlift
Some of the heaviest weights I’ve ever used. Un-doubly the heaviest I’ve used at this light of a BW so that’s something
Utter fucking chaos this week. 3 exams on back to back days. With another hard exam early next week so I’ll probably do this session 2 more times, then strongman Saturday and typical BW work
Anderson squat: 245x2x3, 245+chain(40lbs)x1, 265+chainx1
Reverse hypers: 200x15,12
Daily work: 5 rounds
5 pullups
10 pushups
15 HLR
Notes:
Got a slant board coming in so that should be fun
Very stressful past 2 days. Chem was hard asf yesterday. I had to retake philosophy later today bc of a glitch in Moodle. Biomechanics test today had a screwy thing with a lesson not being taught in class bc of a hurricane
Needed to just move some heavier stuff and move on with my life. I might start doing upper/lower so I can focus more on stuff
