I think I got lucky in the way that it bounced off me like a trampoline. I think if I had smaller legs, it would have been a more serious injury, but the mass saved my ass!
As of now, my right adductor feels strained/pulled and I have a knot in my left hip. There’s no real pain while walking, just some stiffness.
Anyways, kong upper body at least starts tomorrow. Leg work will be strictly rehab stuff on the right leg and some novelty single leg work on the left. No reason to fall too far behind. I probably will still be able to compete. Might not do as well as I want but hey at least I can.
Yeah lmao. I think his first reaction was “Shit” and then he saw I was ok. I get it too. He’s the owner and I apparently have a habit of failing spectacularly!

Notes:
Calling this week 0 because Wednesday I want to attempt the leg day. I really feel fine and my adductor is getting a lot better really quick. If I can do the leg day, I’ll change it to week 1
1 min rest with everything. There’s no way I’m taking more than 2 minutes for this
This was really fun. Great Pump. The heads of my tricep by the elbow were on fire. Never felt that before so it’s probably needed
I’m 3 weeks out from comp. For sure no duck walk into power stairs this weekend but I will just add onto the amount of work until the comp. It’s only 2 weeks of really pushing it and I believe I can do it. I don’t want to drop out of the comp and I don’t believe I need to BUT I have a feeling it won’t be the best show. I’ve already paid for it and probably can’t get a refund so fuck it we ball
I can do Cossack squats no problem again so I think I’m good to lift. Legs tomorrow. They have machines for lower body in this program and I’m curious to give something like a leg press or hack squat a true try in a program so I have to go to the gym on these days. Upper body I can get away without the locked motion. Typically I find leg machines like hack squat or leg press uncomfortable but I want to put some more quad mass on so I’m giving it a try versus attempting to retrain my squat movement pattern. I was tempted to put platz squat in place of leg press but since I have more time, getting out of the house is what I’m going to do.
Overall, the injury most have not been that bad. It was scary as hell and I got lucky but still wasn’t career altering which is a really good thing I’m super grateful for.
Finished “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. That was a wild ride. Also, I’ve been listening to Wes Watson recently. I like how and what he has to say and I don’t care if he’s “fake” because his message seems to be good. As I’ve said before, I would never pay for a “Fix your life course” made by any influencer.
I read that a while back - what did you think of it? I’m probably gonna read Blood Meridian the next time I want some McCarthy, since I’ve heard a bunch of good stuff about that as well. I found his style super interesting, but between it and the subject matter, it wasn’t light reading lol.
I thought it was really really good. It takes a lot for me to get interested in a fiction book but this nailed it. Could not wait to listen to it.
I finished this one not too long ago. Honestly, I lost track at some point but I didn’t stop reading it. I think because it was my first introduction to his style, it was more confusing but it still was really good. Blood meridian and the road are both free if you have an audible plus subscription so that’s the main reason I picked them up. I will say though, I usually just do audiobooks for fiction stuff but I really want to get a physical copy of blood meridian and re-read it.
I’m now a huge fan of the way he describes stuff. It really draws me in. Like I said, I’ve never actually read the physical copies but I’ve heard he does minimal punctuation which I find hilarious
I need to get into audiobooks at some point, I’ve pretty much only ever read paper copies of books. Which made the first bit of The Road really hard to muddle through until I got used to the lack of punctuation lol - especially quotation marks. (For example, a three-person conversation wihthout quotation marks or any sort of “xyz said” to denote who’s speaking)
Ditto on the descriptions though, I can’t think of an author that does them better. There’s a few scenes that vividly stand out in my mind like 18 months after reading it.
I haven’t read much fiction lately (or anything non-school related - reading is one of my first hobbies to get dropped when my schedule gets tight, which is admittedly a pretty shitty habit of mine) but Vonnegut is another favorite of mine if you’ve ever read any of his stuff.
That sounds terrible lol. I know with audiobooks, if the narrator uses slightly different voices for each character, it makes the experience way better.
I mean that’s fair. I like to think keeps the habit of reading at least 1 page a night before bed is great but I don’t remember that much from it so I get just not reading when you don’t have time. Never head of Vonnegut, I will check him out!
Dostoevsky is really cool with audiobooks. I have the issue of if words look the same, I get them confused (all those R names in Crime and Punishment). Hearing them pronounced and each character having voices, it was a really enjoyable way to read some of his work.
Honestly, was enjoying the entire McCarthy conversation until this point. And then this came.
I can’t stand him. I understand I am amongst the minority in this camp, but I will die upon this hill. Look, I love me a good critique of war, let’s go off on pointlessness, the absurdities, the meaninglessness. It’s a fantastic topic that can be done so very well. But god do I hate how Vonnegut does it. Some absurdism as a metaphor? Sure. Absurdism for the sake of absurdism to show that your an edgy offer? Get outta here with that crap. Make it a satire. Make it a sci fi. Make it auto biographical. Make it emotional. But I’n going over the top in every direction, you created an overwhelming input of differing Themes and emotional responses which only act to dampen the legitimacy of any specific one. Reading Vonnegut is like observing the Mona Lisa through an exhibit that has strobes lights and death metal music. All the qualities serve a good purpose, but combined together they just ruin one another.
…this appears to be a bit of a trigger point of mine.
This made me realize that I have been misreading your username as “freshLyfresh” for like a year now lol
@atlas13 ”Sluaghterhouse-Five” is a bit of a mess coherence-wise, I will admit lol. I personally think it’s a stylistic plus, but I can see how someone would absolutely hate it. My favorite stuff of his (“Cat’s Cradle,” “God Bless You Mr. Rosewater,” and “Breakfast of Champions”) is much more grounded.
The story behind is I had just talked to my wrestling coach the day before making the log. He shares the first name same as Mark Wahlberg and goes by “Marky Mark” sometimes. I was a freshman in college and thought “Holy crap my wrestling coach AND Mark Wahlberg”. Then boom Freshyfresh. It’s pretty stupid but fun
I mean pretty much any possible justification for a username is better than the one I use here lol.
“owoboros” is what I tend to go with on other websites (I came up with it a while after I made this account though,) which is a pun off of ouroboros+OwO
Had to google that because I never knew that was the name. Hell you should tie it into some owo style joke like a furry eating its own tail or some other random shit as a profile pic lmao.
I actually like Emevas still and should have just stuck with it. It was the name of a protagonist I came up with for RPG Maker on the original playstation when I was 14 (because I am a dinosaur), and I appreciated how clever I was to make a name out of “Save me” spelled backwards. It was unique enough that I never needed to worry about having to modify it, vs like “Batman69” that you’ll see on forums.
“T3hPwnisher” is a product of early 2000s “L337speak”, which was shorthand for “Elitespeak”, which was just us being stupid and using numbers in place of letters when writing and celebrating typos that occurred as a result of trying to type too quickly while playing counterstrike. You “pwned” people rather than “owned” them, and “The” was quite frequently “Teh”. Hence “T3hPwnisher”
And as for why the Punisher in the first place? Been a fan since I was a kid. My dad used to do business at this printer, and next door was a liquor store that absolutely should NOT have let in a 10 year old kid, but they had The Punisher arcade game there, and I’d always bring my quarters whenever my dad took me along on business so I could play the game there. From there, I bought all the trading cards, a ton of comics, and eventually got the skull tattooed on me at age 19. I STILL have a ton of Punisher shirts, haha.
