Doin' Work in the Steel City

back (where I seem to store every ounce of fat on my body)

Weighed 216 this morning. Lightest I’ve been in 6 years. This APD is no joke. Today is my carb-up though so we’ll see where that leaves me.

~800g of carbs later I weighed 224 this morning. Have to say I feel like a bag of smashed assholes this morning. Physically and mentally lethargic. Hopefully Spike will help me get a decent lift in tonight.

Today is also a protein sparing modified fast, so most of that weight should drop off quickly.

Damn, dude looking ripped. I’m become fascinated by all the nutrition stuff lately and had only heard a few scant mentions of the APD. Chaos and Pain is hilarious, but it’s a good thing I’m reading the site on my phone and not my work computer, lol.

CnP is pretty awesome. I’ve been reading that and Lift Run Bang for a little over a year now.

Nutrition has been something I’ve always kinda just winged. I think it shows too. I look decent from the front, but my lower back holds all kinds of adipose. It is high time I tightened that shit up for good.

I’ll be running APD for at least a month before I try to fuck with it at all. The fact that I dropped to a recent record low bw in less than a week is a pretty good indication to me that this experiment going to be a productive exercise. It could even turn into my default mode of eating, since the “shakes all day, big meal at night” thing really works well with my lifestyle.

The Rampage/carb load day yesterday was a real chore. 800g of carbs is a FUCKING LOT OF CARBS. I was full and drowsy the entire day and into this morning as well. Just starting to get my head cleared now. I’m actually kinda dreading the next one, but we’ll see how I feel after today’s PSMF and a full week of keto.

PSMF’s will make you feel a different kind of crappy. I like the shakes all day idea because I get sick and tired of toting a fucking cooler to work with food in it every day. I’m going to read into this more and get into the details. I fit into the NTFF category so I’ll be in a different boat should I go this route.

I’ve done RFL before and that was awful. Yeah PSMFs suck horribly. But coming on the heels of a huge binge like I had yesterday it’s actually kinda nice. I feel fine today so far. We’ll see how training goes tonight.

I’m actually using the NTFF template as well, since there is no way I’m in single digit bodyfat. I will tweak it to up the cals when I feel I need to. Have to see what kind of progress I make first.

How long did you follow Lyle’s RFL? I only did a 2-week run just to get a jumpstart on a longer term recomposition. I ended up dropping nearly 12 pounds over that time period and my strength held up fairly well. The food choices were fucking motonous - chicken, tuna and uber-lean ground beef, and vegetables.

Since you’re doing the NTFF, do you mind if I pick your brain a bit on it?

I did RFL for 10 days. The lack of cals really got to me. Plus I didn’t eat enough whole foods and relied on shakes excessively, so I was starving balls 90% of the time. Lost about 8 lbs but I had already been dieting for a few months. I probably shouldn’t have used it then, I think it was too extreme for that point in the diet.

You can ask anything you want about NTFF, but I’m not exactly an expert. Only been on it for 5 days LOL. Cooking most of my fatty meats for the week as I type this, actually.

8/6/12 - Bench/Shoulder Iso

BP (JM 8s wave week 2) - 275x2x8, 275x11 with last 3 paused

Inc DB Press - 110x8, 90x3x8
CS DB Swing - 55x30,25,20
DB Lateral Swing - 45x4x30

Bench went pretty decent. I was worried about my energy levels since Jamie says that the day after your Rampage is generally a shitty day to lift. Unfortunately Sunday is the perfect day for me to Rampage, and Monday is bench day at my gym, so I’m more or less stuck with this setup. Had no real issues with energy today.

RANT: You know what I fucking hate? That all of the DBs over 100 lbs at my gym have bent handles. The ONLY way this can happen is if some fuck nugget decides to fucking drop them. That is the only way. That is why EVERY TIME I see a video of pro bodybuilders or high-level powerlifters dropping DBs it pisses me the fuck off to no end. Because every asshole in existence sees that shit and thinks that it’s ok. Then they come into MY fucking gym and now the heavy DBs all look like motherfucking bananas. I grabbed the 110s today with the bend facing away from me, and nearly dropped the one in my right hand on my fucking face. Hence I only got 8 reps when I should have had at least 10.

Seriously guys, there is NO fucking reason to ever throw DBs down. I don’t care what Branch Warren does. I don’t care what Wendler does. I don’t care what Kroc does. STOP FUCKING DROPPING THE MOTHERFUCKING DUMBBELLS!!!
/RANT

Took some pics today with an actual camera (to follow) for better comparison to future pics.

Back Double Bi - I realize I’m not very good at this pose

Rear Lat - Not very good at this one either.

APD Lesson #1: Do not cook your weekly portion of meat the night of your PSMF. Worst idea ever. That is not a good way to deal with the hunger one experiences when consuming nothing but protein shakes for an entire day.

Sometimes I amaze myself with my own stupidity.

LOLOLOL. At least you don’t have a wife that was ruthless enough to bake not one, but two batches of cinnamon rolls the day after I had my free meal on RFL. Oh man that was rough, and I don’t particularly like cinnamon rolls that much.

In terms of the protein shakes, do you just use straight whey or some kind of whey/casein blend? I’ve been experimenting with different combos of whey, egg and casein. The latter two mixed together stave off hunger the best I’ve found.

Luckily my wife doesn’t bake. My mother in law, however, is Satan Incarnate when it comes to baked goods. She knows exactly what my favorites are too, and will show up out of nowhere with like 2 dozen buckeyes or a fresh strawberry-rhubarb pie. I can put that stuff off til Sunday though. At least I know I have that Rampage coming if something like that pops up. Makes the mental aspect a lot easier.

I have just been using Optimum whey, but that’s because I had two 10 lb bags of the stuff when I started the diet. I also like the taste and the price can’t be beat. I might try a blend with my next protein order. I’m sure it would help with hunger, but it’s only really been an issue if I can’t eat at the end of the day.

Well, my wife shouldn’t bake because the first batch she made she put them in too long, haha, which is why she had to make the second one. They didn’t burn, just turned into hockey pucks after cooling. But the frickin’ smell of cinammon rolls still permeated all three levels of our house.

I hope you punished her real good for that LOL.
