Do I Need Help for Estrogen? Or am I Just Fat?

Based on reading info about Poliquin’s biosignature, I thought I might have high estrogen levels due to my quadricep skinfold being very high in comparison to my tricep.

Skinfolds (mm):
Tricep 8.5, Subscap 12, Iliac 12, Abdomen 17, Thigh 20, Mid-Ax. 9, Chest 9
bodyfat = 12.3%

What do you guys think?
And if there is an estrogen problem, what are good solutions in term of nutrition and supplements?

Well im not really sure how Poliquin goes about that but as far as antiestrogen maby get a good antiestro. supp like Rez-V and try eating foods that boost test levels like steak, eggs, peanut butter, oysters etc. And stay away from soy! Im not really sure what else tho…

get blood work done, have your estrogen levels checked.

Forsaken,
Do you recommend using a family doctor or going to a lab for blood work?

Dave F,
Thanks, I do eat pretty good foods from what I’ve read, although I don’t eat oysters.

Any have personal experience with Rez-V?

Well oysters are by no means a Must Eat but just try to eat foods high in zinc! As well try the supplemnt ZMA I forgot to mention it above I take in most of the time Its a combination of Zinc, Magnesium and B6/12 (I do beleive) Anyways it helps keep test levels high and promotes relaxation…

I myself have not used Rez-v But I hear its more of a supplement for heath and longevity more than a real high powered Anti Estrogen but Im sure it will work! But theres lots of people taking it around here so hopefully someone will leave a comment!

The more testosterone you produce the more Estrogen you produce its just you anatomy! So by eating test bosting foods and taking ZMA in conjuction with Rez-V to block Estrogen I think that is your best bet for optimal hormonal levels both test and estro!

Good luck with it
Dave.

I think LaRoyal mentioned grape seed extract.

I read that too! Maby that might help as well!

I would see the doctor and see if they will prescribe you anything fun :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

After that REZ-V, Alpha Male, or any test booster with 6-oxo can help somewhat. This also depends on your age.

If your 16 yr. old there might be a different problem than estrogen.

imo…

Grapeseed is really good, I would POUND the cruciferous vegtables at every meal. Vegetables rich in vitamin C like bell peppers and fruit reduce aromatase reductase, the major enzyme responsible for converting androstenedione and testosterone into estrogen. Di-Indolin is a substance believed to be an active cruciferous substance (broccoli, cauliflower, kale) for promoting beneficial estrogen metabolism. Di-Indolin helps increase, by 75%, the “good” 2 hydroxy estrogens, which have an affinity to bind blood proteins (SHBG).

The effect of this is to leave greater levels of free testosterone. Diindolylmethane also dramatically decreases the “bad” estrogen 16-hydroxyestrone by 50%. The mineral zinc inhibits the aromatase enzyme that converts testosterone into excess estrogen. Some men, who are not meat eaters and have reduced sexual drive, may actually restore normal levels of testosterone with zinc gluconate, taken at 50 mg. BID

laroyal: you’ve had some really good posts that I’ve seen lately.

Not saying I know everything, or even much, but I’d like to think I know a little. :stuck_out_tongue: lol

Far too often I feel like I’m helping others out, but at the same time not getting any knowledge in return. Or I feel like I’m reading a bunch of worthless crap.

I’ve come across a few of your posts where I actually learned something and that makes T-nation worthwhile :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks man! Keep it up!

Thanks Gerdy,

I still have a lot to learn as well, but I try to help out whenever I can. You have offered some great advice to people as well!

Dirty Gerdy,
I am 29, and I do plan on going to the doctor soon.

Laroyal and Dave,
Thanks for the advice on zinc, ZMA, cruciferous vegetables, fruits/veggies high in vitamin C.

I actually just started supplementing with zinc and will get magnesium soon.

I really appreciate everyone’s input.

Thanks.
