I don’t know about the rest of the world but up here in Canada it is mandatory to wear hockey gloves and moose hide shorts while lifting.
I don’t wear gloves to gut a deer, why would I wear gloves if I am not getting dirty while lifting. All those spray bottles are to clean the blood off the bars afterall.

Does anybody have an actual argument against gloves besides “they’re gay” and “man up”?
I wear gloves because I’d rather have less calluses. I still have them, but I imagine they’d be more severe if I didn’t. I don’t want to deal with crap like ripping calluses off.
I’d also bet that I lift more than a lot of people in this thread calling gloves gay at 16 and a year of training.[/quote]
Over time your calluses will build up and they stop from being ripped off. So your skin will be tough not ruff…
Maybe it’s because my grip sucks, or maybe it’s because I’m busting my ass which makes my hands sweaty…but I find that with gloves I can deadlift much more weight without using a reverse grip.
You may tell me that if I continue to use the gloves that my grip will continue to suck…and that may be…but I’d rather worry about pulling more weight.
As for the gloves being gay, I have nothing to worry about at my gym because I know that I’m busting my ass using the hardest lifts and making more gains that 90% of the people there so they can think whatever they want.

Don’t think so. If that’s your experience, you’re lucky, but I have never worn gloves, and if I am DLing or rack pulling regularly I will tear calluses eventually if I don’t sand them down. Buy a pumice stone.
