Chicks will think you’re a wuss. They’ll feel your soft hands and think you’re a nancy-boy.
I used to wear gloves, then I realized the error of my ways.
Especially when I stopped turning wrenches, It became sad how soft my hands got.
Chalk is like gods glove. You don’t want to hurt Gods feelings do you.

The only way I can describe is: It can be compared to having sex with or without a condom (the gloves being the condom ofcourse)
Which one would you choose
Could not have been explained better.
I agree with both posts as well. There will be an adjustment period, but if you tough it out calluses will form and you won’t have much of a problem anymore.

I am going to start jerking off with gloves.
Smell the glove.

HAH! I hope someone else got that.
To answer your question - no it does not have a negative effect.
Learn to lift without them and you will get stronger.

Spinal Tap references are always gold.

C’mon.
man up
OP, if you use chalk for most of the session, when you go to wash your hands it makes them soft and moist. It just protects your hands by filling in the tiny ridges in your skin and keeps them dry.
Ronnie Coleman wears gloves right?
But when you’re the fuckin biggest guy in the gym, you can wear gloves without ridicule I suppose.
I don’t use gloves, I wear the callouses on my hands like a badge of honor (along with the scars on my shins from deadlifting).
but do what you like, as long as you keep training.
I used to wear gloves; crappy for my grip. Now it is chalk or nothing.
As for what the chicks dig, I prefer some callouses.
Gloves = Gay men.
Does anybody have an actual argument against gloves besides “they’re gay” and “man up”?
I wear gloves because I’d rather have less calluses. I still have them, but I imagine they’d be more severe if I didn’t. I don’t want to deal with crap like ripping calluses off.
I’d also bet that I lift more than a lot of people in this thread calling gloves gay at 16 and a year of training.

No, becuase it’s a personal preference. However, complaing about calluses is somewhat feminine.
Chalk and a pumice stone = No problems
And for the sake of argument
You use gloves to avoid calluses, but you still have them…
And what do you say to the guys who lift more than you that don’t wear gloves? It goes both ways

You sure about that? I don’t use gloves, it’s true that your hands can get ripped up at first, but i just didn’t see the point in spending money on that, after a couple weeks my hands found a nice medium. They’re not all callousy and terrible, they’re just kind of…leathered over i suppose is the best i can articulate it. They don’t really get torn up anymore. My experience.

Lots of strong guys don’t wear gloves, but there’s no point bashing gloves for no particular reason because you think the way you do it is more masculine.
And as for spending money, my gloves were $4. at Target and I’ve had them since I started lifting. They smell like death and the palms are pretty torn up, but they’ve held up.

I don’t have calluses and I lift without gloves and I lift heavy. I do have thick skin – very much like another poster. I think if you hold the bar wrong then you are bound to get calluses and tears. If you hold it right your skin gets thicker and no calluses.
If you wear gloves you won’t get thicker skin on your hand. Your hand will be soft and weak, like a girl, which is gay. So quit being a fag and get rid of the gloves.

when did i bash gloves?
Best weightroom comeback I’ve ever heard, from an O-lineman to a tight end who was busting on him: “Nice gloves, faggot.” There’s no reply to that.

Not you dude, but others in this thread and just in general.
Still no actual evidence about gloves negatively influencing lifting.
