I have had two treatments with two different chiropractors both felt like a complete waste of time and money. I have not been able to squat or dealift heavy in a few months because my left knee swells, at my lateral meniscus, at the bent position of the squat doesn’t matter if I do full or half squats it swells days latter. My back feels compressed like my discs are squished together and when I squat or deadlift my lowerback has a sharp pain Days later. I saw the first chiro and he basically just started to go to work doing art on my lowback, It didn’t feel like he was getting in my muscles at all. I left feeling no different at all. The second chiro who was reffered by an art instructor. Did the same thing just said where does it hurt and started to do some treatments without diagnosing or even checking my spine for alignments. And my knee what a joke, I could of done a better job giving myself a deep tissue massage. Both guys felt like they were better suited to treat old ladies injuries. And one guy was going on and on how he treats Jerome Bettis.
Unfortunatley just like there’s lazy MD’s there’s also lazy DC’s. I’m currently a chiropractic student and I definately know what you’re going through. My advise is to seek a chiropractor who is a Gonstead Chiropractor! These doctors practice the Gonstead System technique which is the most thorough and complete way of analizing the spine for any subluxations. It’s the most unique approach to the spine. What you can do is go to www.gonsteadseminar.com and locate a provider near you. I’ve been treated be many doctors who just go to the site of injury and begin working w/out any diagnosing the spine and I’ve also been to a few ART chiropropractors with little to no results, until I became exposed to TRUE chiropractic and received a specific adjustment to the VERTEBRATE that was subluxated (this does not mean racking the whole spine!). But bottom line is that nervers innervate muscles and if a vertebrate has lost its postion or motion and causes nerve pressure, organs and muscles will not receive propper nerve supply to function at it’s optimal level. So first find someone who will take the time to correct all you subluxations by means of a SPECIFIC ADJUSTMENT, then you can look to see how the muscles respond.
find another art specialist. mine does great work. i’ve had him work on my wife and six friends and they are all amazed.
or maybe you have a injury that art just can’t fix.
Pete from what I remember you’re from Michigan. Which ART practitioner do you see? Last time I checked there were only a few in the whole state.
ART didn’t do nothing for me. I felt the diagnoses was a little shitty too. ![]()
Opps sorry for the double negative. ![]()
yes, there are 3 or 5 in michigan only. i go to dr graham in st johns, michigan. its by lansing. i have a link to him on my website www.michiganpowerlifters.com under pain management or something like that. hey, tell him i sent you. he does great work.
ART is all about restoring muscle mechanics by freeing up tissue that are adherent to other tissue. Your knee situation sounds like it is damaged rather than an issue of mechanics. Do yourself a favor and see an ortho. Although your most likely course will be surgery or toughing out you will at least have a diagnosis.
Pete, I paid Dr Graham several visits last year. I agree with you, he does do great work. He mentioned that he had a few powerlifters as clients, obviously you were one of the ones that he was referring to.
i was his first powerlifter. since then he has done several others. he comes to the meets and does free art work on the competitors. great guy. he mentioned my in one of his articles in a magazine.
Go to a real doctor, chiropractors are limited by law due to lack of education and credentials. Fact: prohibited to write prescriptions, for example. This should tell you something.
