Diet Emergency Kit

I’m trying to work up a list of foods to put into a cooler to keep in my car in case I can’t get access to good food for a meal. This is really pretty important to me because I kind of have an “all or nothing mentality” about dieting, and if I can’t eat right I usually end up just going all out and cheating. It’s messed up and a mental obstacle I’m going to have to overcome to get in shape. Anyway, I’ve been going with with “Don’t Diet” approach so need some good ideas for P+C and P+F meals.

I’m thinking the following items would be good ideas.
-Tuna
-Can Opener
-Water
-Grow Bars
-MRP Packets
-Shaker Bottles
-Baggies of protein powder
-Beef Jerky
-Mixed Nuts
-String Cheese
-Fish Oil Capsules
-Maybe some dried fruit for P+C meals

Any other ideas? Stuff I’m missing?

canned turkey and chicken taste great have a shitload of protein and are relatively cheap.

You could save space and weight by getting those tuna packets instead of cans and a can opener. You need 2 packets for every can, though. Second the oats thing. Also, instead of mixed nuts, maybe go for almonds.

Star-Kist makes those new tuna pouches. Aside from the ass salty taste, they are pretty good for protein. Beef jerky is a good one… try to make your own with turkey or chicken breast!

Stay away from the bars, you might as well load up on Snickers.

The oats, water and protein powder would be good too. I’ve got this thing I make with muesli, milk and a scoop of chocolate protein powder that tastes like cocoa puffs. Its probably equivalent too but hey at least I’m trying :).

You don’t need two pouches if you get the 7oz pouch. I can’t stand the kind in water, taste like plastic, but the kind in sunflower oil is better than the can IMO. Anyone else tried the seasoned variety they have now? I tried them all and the sweet BBQ one is the only one I can stand.
