I just thought it was crazy to see Kimbo look like he got destroyed by some haymaker, fall to the mat and not even manage to pull his arms up to defend himself, off of a punch that looked so weak.
It’s not like this is some dude that doesn’t know what it’s like to get hit in the face, it takes 5 minutes of youtube browsing to figure that one out.
I wasn’t watching it for anything more than cheap entertainment which is what I got, but I can’t say it didn’t catch me off guard to see that dude look so wrecked by a jab that had “trying to keep you away while I put my foot back on the ground” written all over it.
I was still laughing from the SNL debate skit when I watched the fight on youtube. This has been one of the most entertaining Sunday mornings I’ve had in a long time.
Then I came here and I see that CL is crying like a little girl over his hero Kimbo’ demise to horror of horror’s a “karateman” heheheheheehehehe. There is a god.
The fact that the humble pie was served up via an accidental three leg punch that you guys think was “just a jab” makes it all the better.

I left to the gym right before the Kimbo fight. I shoulda waited the extra 14 seconds… Why didn’t Shamrock fight? I didn’t hear why they put Petruzelli [sp?] in his place.

A jab is a quick snap punch that retracts as quickly as it went out, it’s not a deep penetrating blow. That punch was more of a lunge punch that got it’s power from the three leg stance. If you watch Kimbo’s head it folded forward from the punch driving in and staying there.
I just watched the fight on youtube. That wasn’t just a jab, that was a straight right that landed high on the outside of Kimbo’s temple with his momentum carrying him into it. Not sure it it should’ve folded him, but more than just a floater shot.
Arlovski needs to face better comp. He’s a really impressive fighter when he’s into it, and he’s too good for the HW’s Elite has to offer.

yeah…Kimbo was too focused on trying to get a KO punch. He was off center and had his chin sticking out.
Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva is the only HW challenge that comes to mind other than Brett Rogers…and then there’s Kimbo…BUT…umm, yeah right.

THE GREATEST UPSET IN MMA HISTORY!!!
Sorry, but that shit almost cost me my life: I had to apply Heimlich maneuver to myself after he said that crap.
I’m so glad we don’t have to hear about that donkey (Kimbo) anymore. The only thing his loss does is make Tank Abbott look like even more of a pathetic, washed up loser.

“deep penetrating blow”…“three leg stance”…hmmm,ok?? Sounds like a good ole “kick stand” punch i give to my woman.
The way a three leg stance works is you are standing on one leg while you opponent is standing on two and your fist links the two of you with all the weight that was being carried by the lead leg being supported by your fist. That’s why they call it three leg stance.

Anyways, the point is that a punch thrown on one leg has very little KO power.
You don’t know what you are talking about. Lifting the lead leg in unison with a lead punch gets all the weight of the body falling behind the punch. This increases punching power. It’s why Dempsey used this technique. Watch the first Bonner, Griffin fight Steven Bonner uses it also.
Kimbo’s head rocked from that punch, because of the punching dynamics that were involved.

BUT leaning in with your chin exposed(Kimbo) adds to being dazed by a quick punch.

Interesting…thanks…I understand what you’re saying now,BUT I’m waiting on how this applies here.
UNLIKE Dempsey’s LEAD PUNCH, Petruzelli never “transfered” his bodyweight by falling into the punch…his weight was on his back foot with his lead foot never touching until after the punch.
Kimbo did it for him by leaning into the punch…BUT the punch did hit him dead on the temple…enough to daze him.
I know you feel like you’re right, but you’re only HALF right. Nice try though…seriously.
The card was pretty darn good I thought. The announcers sucked as was mentioned, and Bimbo Slice got his ass handed to him by the great one, “Seth purple doo-doo.”
I’ll further agree with the general theme of the thread, and elite being responsible ultimately for their own demise, as well as Bimbo’s rise and fall, lol.
To think this piece of trash was calling out Chuck a while back…
Love how Seth went bonkers with happiness too, lol.
Wonder where he thinks this fight puts him, ha, haaaa!
Go UFC! Call it what you will Claw, it’s the best right now.
Kimbo did walk into it to some extent too. It certainly didn’t help. If you watch the punch it did rock Kimbo’s head so his chin went into his chest so the combination of forces was enough. That punch was more solid than it looked so something had to give.
It is an example of a blow that didn’t look like much doing a lot of damage.
It shows that there are dynamics of striking that go beyond just the biomechanical movement.
