Dealing with Fat Loss vs "Only Strength Matters"

For the squat and deadlift my TM is around 70-75%. For the bench I have no idea what % my TM is, but on 3’s week I just hit my top set for 20 reps for perspective, so it’s way low, like 65% or something - but I’m nursing a shit shoulder so that’s why it’s so low. My press TM is 90% and I also power clean where my TM is around 90% as well.

This is my exact setup right now.

Leader
Bench Day - 5’s Pro, Malcolm X Style supplemental (it’s not the exact program but is influenced by the rep scheme)
Heavy DB rows (either do kroc rows or 3x10 strict with 50% body weight)
3x10 skull crushers
3x10 hamstring curls, nordic ghr, or back raises

Squat day: OG2 Krypteia style
I do heavy chins and dips between the 6 total squat sets (3x5-10 reps per assistance total)
1x ab circuit from 2rd edition book

Press day - same as bench
5x5-10 db or bb or ez bar curls
3x20 triceps rope push downs
3x15-20 lateral raises
3x10 hamstring curls, nordic ghr, or back raises

Power Clean / Deadlift day
PC 3x5/3/1 (3 sets of 3-5 reps at top set)
Deadlift (OG2 10/5/10)
RDL 3x10
BB row 3x10
plate raise 3x10-15
ab circuit x1

I do the Original 5/3/1 as my anchor with a rest pause or widowmaker @FSL except I stick with 10/5/10 in the deadlift and 3x5/3/1 in the PC.

edit: I should also mention that during the anchor I generally increase the volume of the assistance work but lower the intensity. For example, I may do 5x5 weighted chins during the leader, but do 5x10-15 body weight chins during the anchor.

Hi irishlifting
I’m in Scotland and had the forever book shipped over from the US. Only cost around £18 for shipping (£47 in total) that’s not too bad I don’t think. The book is well worth it. I’ve got the 2nd edition and the beyond as ebooks. They are great. However, forever (excuse the rhyming there. Lol) takes it to another level and it’s teally nice to have a hard copy.
Hope this helps

I didn’t - I didn’t have any problems with it psychologically (I think that’s what you meant?) because:

  1. I did everything I set out to do.
  2. I was ready to move on to the next goal.

If you are 100% committed there will never, ever be a doubt. Ever. I have never, ever looked back. Looking back is how you lose in life. The big thing is that you have to want to do it/do it for YOU. Just like an addict; you hear the bullshit about “for my kids”, “for my job”, “for my family” - all of it is lip service for the cancerous world out there. All of it is crap. This has to be a selfish move on your part.

That is some great s#$/ there.

Simply superb Jim.

Thank you

Awesome buddy i will get on it
