Deadlifts In A Split Routine?

when is it best to perform deadlifts in a upper/lower body split? on leg days or upper body days?
I ask because most of the time I see people doing them on there second lower body day but does the Dl not hit the back more then the legs?

The deadlift hits both the back and legs. The sumo variety placing a greater effort on the lower body and the conventional deadlift a comparatively greater effort on the back.

If I were you I would add them on the lower body day. Given, it does work the back, but the lower back (more of your core). Thus, it won’t impact your leg day too much, other then the fact you be fuck proud of yourself for squatting and deadlifting on the same day. You’ll be ghetto tired too. But all the same, Upperbody and Lower Body/Core is the way to go

I like to do back movements after deadlifting, so I will say “back day”

I do not like to deadlift and squat on the same day, both are to taxing for one day.

Two upper days, then a DL, and squat day worked great for me for quite while now more into Westside type heavy and RE/DE alternate squats DL’s etc.

In short leg day hits much of same muscles as squats etc.

As long as you don’t do them the day after back day, I think having them on a leg day is fine.

But it doesn’t matter, leg or back, they do the same thing regardless of what you lump them in.

My back day used to look like:
Cleans
Deadlift
Pull Ups
Seated Row

Loved it.
