Deadlifts, First Time in Years

I just started training again after years of doing not much exercise. Today I did deadlifts for the first time in over ten years. I did a search here and read up a bit and watched a video from one of the posts here. I really think it did them well.

I even had a guy come over and compliment me on how I did them (older nice man from the neighborhood, not trying to hit on me lol) however I felt it more in my lower back muscles than I did in my hamstrings. Is this normal? Will I just feel it tomorrow? Thanks.
Amanda

Yes you will feel it tomorrow. The lower back is the weak link for most people. That’s why you felt it there more. Deadlifts work every part of your posterior chain from your calves to your traps and strengthen every bit of it. Concetrate on keeping you lower back arched and keep lifting.

its normal, i barely feel it in my hamstrings and hips, instead mostly on my lower back.

the hamstrings i feel them more like they are stretching rather than using them, specially if i stick my butt more up (by pushing my legs in the floor )

I use to feel it in my lower back. Now I feel it in my glutes and traps the most.

I love deadlifting. Prepare to be addicted!

Oh yeah, feeling it today in my hamstrings alright. I also feel it a little in my butt, my lower back all the way up to my middle back. Thanks for the reassurance guys.

dead lifts, power cleans, squats and planks are all great ways to work your lower back. Like everyone said, you’d be odd if it wasnt your weak link…
