Deadlift pb - could I do more?

I got a pb on trap bar deadlift today. it felt comfortable. Does it look like I could 10 -20 kg more.
The starting position feels more comfortable, as I am losing weight .

Thanks for the vote of confidence Throwaway.
I think my technique must have improved a bit . I’m getting more leg drive. That and more reps .

well done ! You definitely have more in you… FACT - Listening to Slayer will automatically add 50 pounds to any lift

lol. We joke about the music selection, but my buddy wrote his thesis on music selection and its ability to increase performance in both athletics and mental task. I’ll see if I can get a copy to post. Very interesting. So, yeah Slayer for 50, but Britney Spears for 75-100. And Taylor Swift, might even double the weight used.

Also, great lift to OP and you certainly could go a bit heavier. You moved the weight with speed. I’d say another 10-20 is very doable for you. Just wait a week for full recovery first. Then post up the new PR.

I can only add 15 kg without getting different plates. I would have carry them from one side of the gym to the other. Obviously the bumper plates are a lot bigger.

285 kg or could perhaps tape some on.

I’m unlikely to try until another few weeks though

Old school VH and Slayer should be blasted in every gym in America by law

I would focus on a 4 rep max.

Plus, before that I would pull from the same depth as a bar deadlift (turn the trap bar over and grab the low handles.)

As you lose waist fat you will be improving your mechanical advantage in a deadlift pull.

Many thanks Nomad.
I believe I can do 240-250kg for 5 , all out though with high handles. I haven’t tried the lower handles yet. The pb was a bit ego driven but it has raised my confidence and eagerness to improve.
I was going to switch the barbell deadlift but the trap bar makes sense with work ATM , as it is easier to recover from.

IMO, if you are not intending to compete in powerlifting, I would drop the bar deadlift for the most part (possibly some rack pulls). The straight bar requires technique to keep the bar from getting out in front of you. With the trap bar it is very natural to find the proper bar path.

I like to say: “Do single maxes when you are more interested in how strong you are than in actually getting stronger.”

Good point there. I lost a session really .

Yep… or trap bar

I’d work on set up. No reason it should take 30 sec before you even pull. You are wasting a bit of energy that could help you get a stronger lift.
