Deadlift Max vs. Bodyweight

we have some amazing numbers here

315 @ 132, age 17

Wow - i don’t think i push myself then judging by these numbers. I gonna add weight next time.

315 @ 180 for reps

I’d like to see this. Also, we don’t have to have people qualifying it with pause, equipted or double denim. [/quote]

Can I qualify it with deadlift bar and deadlift suit?

I’d like to know how much people get from a suit. I have never heard anyone day they can get more than about 30 pounds from a suit. I’ve heard of people getting 150 in the bench. What is a deadlift bar? I’ve heard some federations allowed a thinner bar.

1 rep max of 180kg @ 75kg (new record set today)

bench still crappy though

mertdawg, I use a MAX Deadlift suit, and I gat about 10 to 15 lbs out of it. A deadlift bar is longer and thiner that a normal olympic bar. And it’s not that some feds “let” you use them. just about all state and national level meets will only use a deadlift bar…

518 @ 165 lbs in a meet

545 @ 165 lbs in the gym

Update of averages 59 lifters
Average DL 451.7
Average BW 192.4

The bench press averages from that thread were about:
Average bench: 308
Average BW: 197

How do these compare? Any comments? We had people in the bench stats using shirts, others without a pause, others who probably had more of a bodybuiliding chest style or little arch. I just thought that the deadlift would give a more accurate picture of people who read this site.

Has anyone else read the Waterbury posts? This kids post made me begin to doubt the validity of this topic. I would hope T-men wouldn’t lie about what their deadlift is just to impress faceless posters on the internet. Anyway mine is 405 @ 220.

Loki: posting false stats in an anonymous forum does seem a bit stupid.

Also, our DL and weight are pretty much identical. Race you to 500!

I don’t think 310 at 150, or 315 at 132 for a highschool age kid is ridiculous. I know a lot of highschool kids who got up to 315 after a 1 semester weights class, and weighing in the 150s. I know I got 315 at 155 in highschool within about 2 weeks of “liftin” but that’s just a base. I’ve only gotten 435 at 205 and I’m 33 years old now. Kid: you can get 315 at 150 at 16 and if you don’t keep getting stronger you’ll be doing 315 at 190 when your 26.
I don’t know about his other posts though.
By the way, I remember reading that someone in early 90’s deadlifted 5X BW once (something like 661 at 132!) I think it was the one and only time. I think the sub 200 pound record is just over 800 (I think 802.5 at 198.5), and I think Coan got like 684 pounds over bodyweight: Like 901 at 217. Those are amazing numbers.

Well mertdawg, I don’t see why people would lie about their deadlifting numbers on an online forum! High school kids these days are though. I started deadlifting back 8 months ago, at around 185lbs max, now at 315 (raw max, in december). I don’t play any sports at all now, just into lifting iron. Oh, and those are definitely amazing numbers haha. On another note, I have a friend who just started lifting, he can lift 205lbs at 250lbs in the first week of training!

Contrary to what some may tell you, you can’t just deadlift. I seriously could do 315 within 2 weeks after having done other lifting before, and I came back to the deadlift at got to 385 in about 4-5 weeks of hard training when I was 18 (unfortunately I only trained 4-5 weeks hard at a time and then took 4-5 weeks off). I weighed 170, but when I tried a real, parallel squat, I remember crashing with 265-co core strength. If you don’t squat deep-hips below knees-now, start immediately. If you do-great.

Then in that case, great.

I pulled 335@192lbs at my last competition.

I plan on pulling 400+ at APF Senior’s in June.

I believe the insane 5x BW was Lamar Gant. Guy had the freakiest arch I have ever seen-folded like an accordian.

635 @ 275

I pulled 545 @ 180. My deadlift makes absolutely no sense what so ever, especially since I can only squat about 335…which unfortunately is slightly lower than what I can bench.

600 @ 265

551@275 in comp. just a belt, years ago

RAW 450 lbs deadlift at a BW of 205
