Dead Stop Exercises

lately I’ve been really digging exercises where the weight is brought to a dead stop at the end of the eccentric.

Started with Dead Skulls for a while, and nothing seems to hit my triceps quite like them.

Now it’d be cool if someone has experience with other dead stop movements, I know I’d like a small compilation of them:

Now I read about some other man doing OHPs from pins, and tried them today…Now, nothing has hit my medial delts quite like that movement. Did them behind the neck, setting the pins just below ear level.

BTN Press, by Kevin Levrone

Pin CGBP, suicide grip, PL setup. Pins set to and inch or two above chest.Couldn’t find a vid, but this was beastly:

And of course, rack deadlifts. Don’t fit into my program now, but as soon as I can I’ll start doing these again.Bar just at knee level, strap up, scapular retraction. Lean back while holding onto the bar,so that you’d fall if you were to let go, getting a good stretch in the lats before straightening the body.

Derek Poundstone?

They’re great for some injuries. I use them as a bridge to get back into a movement that I couldn’t do due to certain injuries.

I like DEADlifts

I throw in many lift variations starting from a dead stop. I think they’re great too, especially to build explosiveness and “bottom end” power.

Setting up between each rep (especially mentally) helps maintain my focus, and thus my form when the weight is heavy.

Deadlift Skullcrushers are a fav for me, and squats from pins in a rack really help with lower end strength.

Can’t forget the floor press either.

Box Squats, suspended chain goodmornigs, lock outs or pin presses, paused bench, floor press, pin squats, deadlifts and rack pulls.

That’s all I can think of right now.
