I live in Prince Georges County about 10 minutes from DC.

I’m actually moving down there in July. Theres one of three places where I will be working, Reston, Ballston, or Downtown DC. I just dont know where yet.

But either way, I’m going to look for a place to live, that is decently affordable, close to metro, an has a good gym nearby. any suggestions?

once there i could join up.

reston, i live in herndon (herndon/reston are one and the same) real estate is bloated wherever you go, downtown DC being terrible esp with parking, but reston is a hop skip and a step from the metro, right near dulles airport, is loaded with tons of good gyms (worldgate in herndon and skyline in reston), minutes from tysons corner (some of the nicest malls in the nation), not too far from the leesburg outlets, FedEx field and RFK are a very easily doable drive (or the metro), as is the MCI center… trust me your not going to want to live in D.C., where parking can be a hassle and the cost of living can really force you to pinch your pennies, also reston has a nice 'burbian feel to it, is very well kept… funny, i’ve lived in nova for basically ever, and I can’t pinpoint ballston on a map (any help?)

let me know if you have any more questions… what field do you work in?

You’ll probably want to live in Prince Georges county, if you can stand the crime that is.

LOL, Everyone seems to Chime in on where they live and what they Know.

I think we all do agree though that DC itself is the WRONG choice for ease and money.

I actually like Arlington and the Metro is great where I’m at. Think we were the lowest in the murders Last year as well.

Anyhow on Columbia Pike atleast it is easy to cathch the metro Bus to the Pentgom and then from there catch the metro to where ever.

Gyms, plenty around good not sure I w/o at home.

Hope that helps some,

Phill

In Montgomery Village now…with weekly trips to my supplier in DC.

I’m working in the computer science/engineering field.
yea i know haha, im a geek.

Their HQ is in Reston, with an office in Arlington/Ballston, and in DC for the area. I have an uncle living in Rockville, MD. Would that be feasible to take the metro from there? I would be saving a ton of money on housing, but i dont know if he’s cool with me living down there.

Man you make it seem like Reston is the place to be with the gyms and malls, and close to Metro.

I wont be “living” in the area for more than 3 or 4 years its very temporary, as my career goals are not to be stuck in a cubicle programming all day. I want to move on and eventually start a business. then again, it could be in the DC area

Affordable in terms of renting or buying?

And compared to where? Where are you coming from? If it’s not NY, CA or MA, you may be in for some sticker shock.

BTW, DC T-cell sounds cool. I live in Arlington, VA and work in Georgetown in DC.

Germantown - Montgomery Count.

Count me in on the T-cell. Live in Arlington, work in DC.

renting. yea it looks like sticker shock so far from craigslist. im from Philadelphia. Im just coming out of college, so i dont even really know what costs what

Ballston is up around Arlington, up Glebe RD, it’s near Clarendon.

I’m in Arlington, I like the idea of a T-cell and getting together to do strongman stuff, sort of like a powerlifting club.

Here’s an idea: Create a DC T-cell website where you could post meet times, all the good local Gyms to train at, which gocery stores have the cheapest tuna, etc. For example I know Trader Joe’s in Bailey’s crossroads has the cheapest frozen berries in the area and has a bag of flax meal for about 2 bucks.

That’s a hot idea! i like the concept. Perhaps we could get TC or Shugs to come out to the first meeting.
