Nascar is also just an excuse for people to get wasted waiting for the final 15 laps, then the drivers actually start racing, which leads to crashes since theyre not that great of a drivers to start with. So the final 15 laps or so take forever due to the cautions and bullshit. Really, it’s stupid and i cant wait for F1 to start back up. [/quote]

Slightly above average would be a 6 and that’s not even fuckable. Fuckable starts at about 7 and she’s definitely that. I’d give her a high 7 to 8. I don’t like those aviator glasses she wears though, they make her look kinda dikey.

She’s the only woman competing with men in a mans sport. She won the pole and she ran top ten practically the whole race. I’d say that’s a pretty damn good accomplishment. She would have come in the top 5 if she wasn’t racing not to lose at the end. She was too conservative in not making an aggressive move because she didn’t want to fuck up. I’m sure she’s processed this mistake and will be a much more dangerous competitor next time she’s in the same position.

Aggv, you are just tipping your prejudice for Formula. Do you think there’s something inherent about F1 that makes them better drivers or draws better drivers? The best North American drivers, with a couple of exceptions, race NASCAR and the best European drivers race Formula. That’s it. I could easily argue that NASCAR has better drivers because having well funded team in F1 is much more important. There’s only a few team that have a chance so there’s no where near the competition that allows the drivers to optimize their skills.

Facebook isn’t on the internet? Fuck me, you learn something new every day.

Question: shouldn’t she have an advantage seeing how she must be ~30lbs lighter than the competition?

Quickly glanced through the pages and I see that no one has argued that racing, especially at over 190miles/hour, would require a tremendous amount of concentration, timing, mental endurance, quick reflexes, and hand-eye coordination.

I’m not a fan in any way of racing. I know nothing of it. But still, the above seems kinda obvious to me.

Personally, I think that men have a definitive advantage (simply on a genetic level) when it comes to the above characteristics. If that’s so, then it really IS impressive that she is able to compete with them.

I say this because people seem to be dismissing her participation simply because it doesn’t fall under their particular classification of “sport” and is therefore not impressive.

Tmay11 is correct about the timing hand eye and endurance playing a great deal into who is good and who sucks. Short story, we used to have this mini sprint track around us. These weren’t go carts, you had to wear full protective gear, helmets, fireproof suit and the cars had roll cages. Top end speed was around 50 MPH and you raced 12 cars on a 1/8 mile track. Now I don’t remember these statistics exactly as it was about 10 years ago and the place closed down shortly after we went. But out of the 12, about 5 had already gone, and one guy actually drove dirt sprints on the weekends.

We got like 25 laps to warm up/ learn how to drive the car, and then two 50 lap features. I ended up 6th, which was pretty good seeing as I had beaten a few guys who had raced it before and the sprint car guy. And just to prove the whole story about timing and hand eye, I was running say 55 second laps during the 25 lap practice run. I thought hey there must be something wrong with this car, most of the guys were going way faster than me. The best guys were running 52 second laps.

Well one of the kids who works the track took my cart for a spin in between the 25 and the first 50. He started pulling of 40-43 second laps. I kid you not, it was like he was on a rail around the track and never took his foot off the gas. With a sprint car, you have to drift the corners, so he had to hit his drift spots perfectly every time and he basically did just that. Factor in a much larger car and much higher speeds and most of you would never be able to take a lap at full speed in a NASCAR, and for any of you who managed to work your way up to doing 1 full speed lap, your next lap would find you in a wall.

Second story, when I was about 10, I snuck into the pits at Dover with my uncle. There was some expo’s going on and we got busted without pit passes. The look on my face must have been telling because Kenny Wallace saw us being escorted out and stopped the guy, he then offered me a ride around the track in a two seater car they had out. They helmeted me up and I got in the passenger side and her took a couple laps around Dover. First, you underestimate how high the banking is on some of these tracks. And secondly, yes I was 10 but I literally almost shit my pants and i’m dead certain he was just doing a comfortable cruise around the place, not trying to set any lap times.

Third part of the post, Danica is only the 13th Person in history to have led a lap at both the Indy 500 and the Daytona 500. That means she is a good racer, not a good woman racer.

Had second thoughts about this, just because there are some people unfortunately on this site that aren’t the type of people i want having access to my page.

Either way if you are curious just add me on here, my hub is private but there are pics of us on there.

Back to the racing isnt phyiscal stuff, the main point i was trying to make is that it is way more mentaly taxing than physically so the boy vs girl argument doesnt hold up like let’s say basketball where a man can physically dominate a women.

I would also love to see her win just to see the gold ole boy network of nascar fans expload and find ways to lessen the victory when it does happen in a major race.

Your dirt track story reminds when I ran into an old co-worker a few years back. He was racing big dirt track cars with big motors in them so they were really moving. After racing for a couple years he was doing okay but no where near the front. One day he asked a young kid how he could get such great lap times. The usual stuff, tires, suspension setup, braking/tapping points.

The kid started to laugh at him and said something like “braking points! what fucking braking points, there are none, flat out lap, after lap”. My buddy knew right then and there he was done lol. It’s takes alot of guts just to race those cars but to go flat out on edge lap after lap is what it takes to win and he knew he got too old to race like that week in and week and sold the car.

Juan Pablo Montoya is probably the most qualified to answer that question.

While I watch both F1 and Nascar I think FI guys are more skilled. Having said that, why hasn’t JPM dominated Nascar? So many variables.

In the motorcycling racing world it’s a no brainer, no contest imo, MotoGP riders are the best.

The only people who say this have never raced. It’s a lot more demanding physically than you could imagine. It’s not like you’re sitting in your Lexus on the 5 sipping a latte. There’s a lot of work involved with piloting any sort of vehicle around at high speeds.

Yeah, there’s a mental aspect for sure but don’t discount how physical it can be.

Comparing who’s the best between Nascar and F1?

Have you guys not seen the documentary Talladega Nights? The F1 guy crushes all the Nascar drivers. Case closed

What 40 time to you need to run in NASCAR?
How strong to you have to be?
What ball handling ability?
What situational awareness do you need? (with OUT someone telling you what to do in a helmet radio)

Fuck ESPN. Why the fuck do they call NASCAR, billiards and poker “sports” but then I have to buy a special channel or go to an Irish pub at 4:00 in the morning to watch a rugby match - you know, a REAL man’s game?

It is all about weight. That is why all of the drivers are like 5 foot tall, and weight no more than 150. The rules are all about the car. You want to open up the sport to everyone then start to use the weight of both the car and driver and not just the car. Women should actually have an advantage over men in race car driving. They are shorter and weigh less.

"NASCAR bases its cars on a 180-pound driver. If the driver is 180 pounds or more, the car must weigh 3,300.

A driver who weighs 170-179 pounds must add 10 pounds to the car, while a driver 160-169 pounds must add 20, a driver 150-159 pounds must add 30 and any driver under 150 pounds must add 40.

Patrick, whose weight is estimated between 100 and 110 pounds, therefore drives a car at least 30 pounds lighter than most of the other drivers. Mark Martin, the lightest male driver, weighs around 130 pounds.

â??You canâ??t keep chasing something that has minimal effect,â?? NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said about the 40-pound maximum weight added to Patrickâ??s car. â??We want to keep the cars as light as we can anyways. Weâ??re working in that direction. "

I’m almost positive they added weight to her Indy Car back in the day. As far as your weight and height “standards” are you basing that on NASCAR or Indy or F1 or what? There are a lot of varying sizes in NASCAR.
