Wow. This thread has been more fun than I intended.
She isn’t the hottest woman ever, but if you wouldn’t put it to her you may need to rethink some serious life choices.
I just hate ESPN. Fuck em. They don’t give any credit to WSM but show Poker and bowling every fucking day.
I know sex sells, but that doesn’t make me give a damn about NASCAR. I have the internet, I can search porn pretty quickly. I feel like they don’t understand that you can’t base sports around sex appeal. ESPN needs an overhaul to get to real sports.
Throw in some Rugby, more boxing, mma/kickboxing, martial arts, track/field, or maybe show NBA games! Every damn week I miss good games while something stupid is on. Don’t show NBA tonight while a game is on!
Seriously, the spelling bee is shown, but the WSM finals were not.
That’s not how it works, ESPN can’t just broadcast whatever the hell they want - sporting events get broadcasted based on whichever network has the contract with that particular team and organization. For NBA, I believe that TNT has the rights to show most of the nationally televised games. ESPN might want to show the game, they just don’t have the rights to it.
No one wants to watch WSM, rugby (aside from AC apparently) and lower-tier fights. The good boxing matches / mma fights that you actually want to see are typically PPV, again, ESPN couldn’t show them even if they wanted to.
It is not like their is a bias against “performance sports”, they just aren’t popular. ESPN used to show WSM stuff all the time, but people stopped watching, so they stopped showing it. ESPN gave a ton of coverage to the CrossFit games (both men and women) last year, because a lot of CrossFitters (and spectators) were tuning into the action, and Reebok as putting some big advertising dollars behind the competition.
Wouldn’t it be great if it DID work that way though?
