Wow, this age thing kinda creeps up on ya! I kinda stumbled on this place but I am glad I did. I have trawled through masses of the articles and have to say they are excellent reading and some of you guys sound like you actually know what you are talking about! SInce this is my first post I will introduce myself. 38 yrs old, 6ft tall male, about 180 lbs.
My fitness levels are pretty good as I have been cardio training for a long time without really breaking the routine. I have done this in a gym available at work. I recently purchased a bench and weights and started doing some weights. I will admit that I started weight training and then thought maybe I better look into this weight training so I ain’t just wasting my time. SO…I bought a book!
I put my own routine together which covered each body part in some way and away I went!!! I have to say I am pretty happy so far with the results considering what I am actually trying to achieve. I can see shapes appearing where 12 weeks ago there were none and today I actually thought I saw an abdominal muscle trying to get out! I do have questions but I will ask them seperate as I don’t want to harp on too long!
First post myself. Welcome! I’ve been a member for a couple of years now and have learned a great deal! I’m 6’4 250lbs and am working to get in the best shape of my life at age 35!!!
Cheers guys. I have to say I don’t feel any older than when I was in my 20’s!!! The body doesn’t respond quite as quickly and the fat comes easier and takes more getting rid of! But it kinda makes it all the more satisfying when you do start seeing improvements.
As well as the new (to me) weight training I have kept up some cardio training. Did 20 mins interval training today and I really knew I had been in a workout. So satisfying to sit back at your desk in the afternoon knowing your metabalism is up and you are that little bit closer to your goals!
