Thats about what I was talking about. I would be willing to pay to get the Flameout but at only getting 22 servings per container I wouldnt want to use more than one serving a day due to the expense.
So I would use that for a serving and then use the cheaper fish oil for other meals kind of like how you divided them up.

I read on another post on this site from awhile back that says you should take like 30-45 grams per day to really see results.
Another poster said you are to get 1gram per 10 pounds of body weight.
So say I were to switch to 15 grams per day ( I weigh 150pounds), I guess I should probably get more powerful fish oil yeah?
Because with what I have now that would be like 70 capsules a day.
You’re still confusing “fish oil” grams and “EPA/DHA” grams. The 1 gram per 10 lbs recommendation is “fish oil” grams. Most commercial fish oil’s are 1 gram per capsule.
So for you that would typically equate to 4.5 grams of EPA/DHA a day which is just about right.
For your reference the typical fish oil has 180mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA, or 300mg of EPA/DHA, per capsule. So 70 capsules would actually be 21 grams of EPA/DHA not 15. If the fish oil you have is less than that I would buy something else.

With that many pills, you’d be burping fish all day. yuck
One of the authors on this site mentioned that fish oil shouldn’t taste or smell very fishy and that it was a sign that the oil you were buying was bad. I think it might have been Dr. Berardi. I’ll see if I can find the article.
Yeah, i’d say most fish oil are 1g, but the amount of EPA and DHA are different. Some are 1200mg, it varies. I usually take 6-8 regular fish oil (the 180:120 ones) and then take the extra strength fish oil i got from GNC that has 720:540 (or some high number).
So i’m getting around 2g of EPA and 1.5g of DHA a day, any more is just going to get expensive, especially since the extra strength fish oil only has 60 pills. At least i’ll make my 20$ last 2 months instead of a few weeks.

JB did say that, but it was an over-generalization. Some people still have issues with the best quality stuff. It’s highly individual.

Trust me, no you dont!
Just finished my chicken & steamed veggies w/digestive enzymes and 2 big fish oil caps…and am having nasty fish burps!..Eeyuchh…
I started taking a cap per meal/shake/snake for a week now, and I can attest that it will make you bleed like a pig. I cut myself shaving today and the result wasn’t pretty at all.
I’ve upped my intake to 25 grams fish oil, (bottle doesnt specify the EPA/DHA ratio =) and got a paper cut which evolved into a fountain pretty fast, anything we can take to counteract the bloodthinning?
I’ve never had a blood thinning issue at 15 a day. I get nasty fishoil burps with the GNC ones - I’ve stopped taking them within 2 hours of working out because I tried it once and it was NOT a good workout. Chilling them didnt help me either; I heard fridge/freezer would sort me out, but it didn’t.

One thing to try is some extra Vitamin K. The guidelines for minimal amounts of Vitamin K have recently been upped from the old 80 micrograms (mcg) to 120 mcg. Vitamin K aids in the production of prothrombin which is a blood clotting substance (in fact this how Vitamin K got its name, from either the German or Dutch word for clotting).

Hmm. How does one go about getting these strangely coated fish oil caps that you speak of?
I’m gonna start taking 4 caps of Flameout as soon as they arrive (should be today, maybe tomorrow), and I also have a bottle of Carlson’s orange-flavored 1 gram fish oil caps (the standard 180/120 mix); I usually take 4 of those per day as I also supplement my diet with flax seed for extra fiber and Omega3s (no, I don’t want to hear that the Omega3 in flax isn’t metabolized efficiently, I already know that; I take it mostly for the additional fiber).
Like Zap Branigan said, keep the caps really cold and you shouldn’t get the dreaded burp; freezing them is OK from what I hear, though I don’t do that.
I can’t stomach the thought of taking liquid fish oil, no matter the flavor, but who knows, maybe I’ll give it a try.
