Crossfit. The Beginning of The End?

Major bust up last weekend between several top crossfit coaches and HQ. All talk of this is banned on Crossfit.com; attempts to question HQ publicly on crossfit.com have been dealt by blocking IP addresses of the dissadents. Full story can be found in blogs of said top coaches and of course at the home of our favourite crossfit haters.

As an affiliate owner I have to say I side with Wolf and Everett on this. Apparently Welbourne of CFFB has been more on the side of Everett and Wolf. I’ve talked it over with our trainers and we’ve had some of the same issues brought up at the conference.

With this going down and there being a potential splintering of affiliation, and Wolf, Everett, and Welbourne decided to start there own org, we will go with them. It could be quite an organization if they got Wolf, Everett, Welbourne, and Rip to head a new organization.

What happened exactly?

Check robb wolf and performance menu

Interesting…
I read that “balanced” review of Gym Jones by that Russel guy and found myself agreeing with Gym Jones’ philosophy in just about every case.
I can’t read Greg’s statement… maybe I have to be a member or something.

I’m an affiliate owner and I run my own programming with more of a strength base. I also read the Gym Jones review and I’ve always considered Twight’s stuff his version of crossfit and I’ve stayed out of the falling outs and everything. I’m not particularly happy with how this has played out and I’ll see how it goes and decide whether I want to keep my affiliation. I feel my gym is strong enough to hold on its own and I can run my version of fitness and programming without the name. I don’t even keep a CFJ subscription anymore, though I’ve kept my performance menu subscription. The reason I didn’t renew my CFJ is because I have all the old stuff, which was outstanding, but it started becoming a point where the articles were written by people I didn’t feel were contributing or irrelevent articles (there was one in 07, I think, with an article on how Global Warming was a myth, not matter your standing, this didn’t belong in the journal). I’ve never been happy with the politics on the front page. Again, it is no place for it.

Rippetoe and his crew were just at one of the final Rippetoe Crossfit certifications with Wellbourne, so that may be a foreshadowing of things to come.

http://70sbig.com/ , latest entry.

I bet if they all fought, there would be a lot of slapping and hair pulling.

I don’t really know much about CrossFit, but after reading this thread I went and found the different explanations by those involved…makes for some pretty entertaining drama…lot of reading, though.

Greg Everret’s explanation…

Robb Wolf’s explanation…

Russel Berger’s account…

Awesome.

Although you forgot, “Prance like a poodle…” although you did have run like a little girl, so that’s ok.

Man, sounds like a lot of whining.

When did lifting weights turn into a, “Days of our Lives” type soap opera?

I have some thoughts developing, but they are being impeded by the absurd level of rim job with a reach around that these people must have been giving themselves for a business agreement to have turned into this.

I have some thoughts, but they are being impeded by the mental image of someone giving themselves a rimjob and a reach around…

Anyone care to give the cliff notes version? I don’t follow Crossfit and therefore don’t even know who these 3 guys are. I also don’t care who is right, just the jist of what they’re arguing over.

It went something like this:

…as a side note I think Dave Castro may have been a Navy Seal at some point. I think it would be an entertaining match up between him and Everett who snatches well over 300 lbs I think.

Castro was a SEAL. This schism has been a long time coming within CF. This treatment of staff is proof positive in my mind that CrossFit HQ has gone loco.
