CrewPierce Continues

So I hit 480 on my deadlift yesterday.

After getting this up, I decided I would go for 500 (5lb collars thus the 480 and even 500).

So I’m standing behind the bar getting ready. I have my iPod blasting…then it goes dead. BUT I have the gym speaker right behind my left ear, all good right? Nope! The gym is blasting some Christian pop music telling me to praise the Lord. Now nothing wrong with that…but that sure as heck doesn’t get me in the mind set for a PR.

Needless to say, I missed 500.

Here is a goofy ass picture of me after tailgating all day. I’m posting it because my arms look good in it lol.

Well I’m glad you still follow along!

My apologies for really slacking on my log though! Work has gotten much more strict on our internet use, thus my limited time.

I’ll post up my new workout soon!

So I just realized that my deadlift the other night was over 2.5x my bodyweight. That’s pretty cool

Just One of Those Days

6:30AM: Alarm goes off, I chuck it to the floor

6:35AM: Super Shake (6 egg whites, Hood Carb countdown Milk, 2 scoops Whey), 1 piece of fruit, joint pills, milk pill, REZ-V

7:00AM: Put my suit on…damn job. I don’t love it but it pays the bills and supports my hobbies. Plus I’m a financial analyst who still has a job after the economy tanked, I can’t complain.

7:30AM: Arrive at work. Looking through emails, listen to voicemail, dial-in for 8AM telecom, determine how we can financially avoid a layoff.

10AM: Snack time. Oatmeal, fruit, and a protein shake.

10:10AM: Back to the grind. More meetings, grab some coffee, figure out if we can buy a new tool that will create a section of a transmission.

11:30-12noon: Lunch time. Veggies, a starch, and a lean piece of meat. Although today it is a sweet potato, pineapple, and meat loaf (I needed a treat today).

12noon-3:30PM: More finance/accounting work.

3:30PM: Snack time again. 2 PB sandwiches and a protein shake

3:35PM: Walk the line floor, check on the engineers.

6PM: Get home and make my workout shakes. Then leave for the gym while drinking an energy drink.

6:30PM: Arrive at gym (a place attached to a auto body shop). Warm-up and shoot the shit with my workout partners Troy and Shannon.

Today is deadlift day. Warm-up with hyper extensions 3x10. Move on to light weight deadlifts with a sumo stance: 2x10x135, 2x10x55. Then onto conventional stance: 2x5x315, 1x4x365, 1x1x405, 1x1x455, 1x1x480, 1x1x500 miss, 2x2x405

Now for back work. T-bar rows: 3x10x145 plus bar. Then pull-ups. I do 50 mixing wide-grip and hammer grip.

I’m fried. Short workout today, it’s only 7:30PM. I don’t usually leave until 8:30PM

7:30PM: Drive home while drinking my SURGE Recovery

8PM: Make dinner for my finacee and I. She’s been grading papers all night and planning tomorrow’s lesson for her 3rd grade class.

8:30PM: Eat dinner: Meat, veggies, light on the carbs.

9PM: Relax and watch House

10PM: Make my meals for tomorrow as well as my finacee??s. She??s back to grading all that homework.

10:30PM: Make sure I have a suit ready for tomorrow.

10:45PM: Shower and such

11PM: Hit the sack so I can chuck my alarm clock again in 7 hours.

Hard Life? Nah not really. But I enjoy all but 10hrs of it a day

Besides, maybe I’ll get that job at the hospital

Glad things are going well CP, and that you still have your job after the pee pee test was put into effect at your job.

And you’re blaming your missed DL PR on Christian Pop Music? I think someone needs to read their Bible. haha

Nice work man, keep plugging along.

Haha man a Bible reading would have been better than that music!

I wasn’t ever worried about my job with the drug test, only thing in my system was pain killers for my knee and they were of the legal sorts.

Thanks for stopping in here man!

So on Sat. I did squats.

I only had an hour before I had to go finish registering for gifts and other wedding stuff so all I got in was heavy squats.

I had the good fortune of my fiancee lifting we me. It was a pleasant change as she has been very busy with school and wedding stuff lately. She was a great help is wrapping my knees and spotting me.

I hot 315 for a double raw and went up to 405 with my suit on. I had more in me but it’s hard as hell to walk the weight out in a squat suit and knee wraps! On my 405 lift I was at an angle with my feet but I couldn’t get straight. Haha damn I miss my monolift!

I give props to all those people who lift in feds where you have to walk the weight out. With my bad knees that’s not for me, but I recognize how hard it is when you are going for a max attempt.

I wish I could register here on T-Nation and elitefts haha.

Hope y’all have a good Monday!

Ya know, your schedule there doesn’t look bad at all. busy yeah, but hell that sounds like a pretty great life. personally I’d throw some sex in there, but maybe you just left that part out. you’re twenty… five?

Haha I am by no means complaining, expect maybe a little bit on the job front but that’s due to the economy (I hate “letting people go”).

There is time allowed in there for that exercise as well, more once all the wedding planning is done. I’m 24 so you were damn close!

Dang! See I’m twenty, in a really committed relationship, and addicted to the iron. Just tryna see what the road might look like a couple years ahead. I’ll be lucky as hell if it looks something like yours!

Haha well I’m sure it will look like whatever you want it to. It’s all what we make of things.

I’m just fortunate to find a girl who helps with my knee wraps and the only comments I get when I squat in a suit are, “well you face turned a nice shade of purple, but you hit depth.” Haha.

So this week is a deload week for me.

Last night I did higher rep work (10-20 reps) for chest, shoulders, and triceps.

I did DB bench, DB incline, clean and press, 3-way shoulder raise, french press, tricep pushdowns and I think that was it.

It feels good to have an easier week right now.

Haha which part, my finacee or turning purple while squatting? If I had to pick I’m not sure which one I like more :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Crew,

I does you sumo deadlift compart to your conventional? just curious. and nice work with the 480 PR!

lol I’m guessing that is “how does your sumo deadlift compare to your conventional”. My sumo is much weaker than my conventional. I have only gone up to 365 in sumo.

I do like to use sumo to warm-up though! It gives a better stretch to my legs.

No workout yesterday. President of my business unit is in town until this afternoon so it was a late night at work.

Did squats last night.

I worked up to a raw 315x2

I REALLY wanted to go for 3 and started the third rep, but alas I didn’t have any spotters and the rack pins are too low to do any good for my tall ass so I cut it high on purpose. No sense in getting hurt when doing reps.

I then did calves, abs, and goodmornings. For the goodmornings I did 3x10 with 155.
