Did some bicep, abs, and calves last night.

There is another “powerlifting” meet in oct (oct 25th to be exact) that I am thinking about doing for fun. This one is a combined score of overhead press, deadlift, and strict curl. Haha how odd is that?

Is this the one at Core 24 in Seneca? Thats the one Detazathoth and I are doing but last time I checked it was a full meet.

The one I was talking about is in Georgetown SC.
Gotcha, I was hoping I wasnt wrong about the IBP meet, haha. Have you ever been out to G7 in Central? Were having some issues with Student Government right now at the Dungeon so my last month of training is going to be out there I think. Your place in Sleasley is just too much of a drive for 4x a week.

CP congrats on the squat PR. Also, glad to hear everything else is ok. (aka- no cancer!!!)

How’d your training progress the last 2 months? As someone else mentioned, I read your log in late July then BAM you hit 405! What was your max back then? …and how do the suit and wraps feel vs without anything?

I ask because my squat (for reps @315) is higher than yours was in July, but I’m pretty sure I can’t hit 405 at the moment. Though I don’t use a suit, wraps, or a belt, if I could hit 405 in 6-8 weeks (like you did) I’d be quite happy

Hey man I don’t have time to reply at the moment (up in Detroit on business right now) but wanted to say I saw your question and will answer it in full on Monday.

Basic answer is great pop out of the hole.
Sounds good, thanks for the short update. Looking forward to the full response

Can’t say I have ever been to that gym, but I have heard good things about it.

Yea man that drive would be a bitch 4x a week! Haha not too mention both Nash and I are hurt at the moment and aren’t training.

OK so full response now.

So I have these damn long ass arms and legs so getting out of the hole on the squat is my only real problem. I can do 3/4 of a squat up to about 500lbs (using a power rack I place the bar on the safeties and start from that mid position). So the added pop out of the hole from the suit has been a great help! I just need to continue to learn it better and it is also about a size too large.

Currently I can get the straps of the suit up by myself which is a problem. I need to take about an inch off on both of the straps.

Haha the only problem I have now is a torn meniscus so I won??t be squatting for at least another week. Looks like I’ll be forced to pull out of the meet :frowning:

Damn body falling apart on me.

Gotcha. I’m in a similar boat…if I fail a squat its coming out of the hole- once I reach midway I can blast through the lift pretty well. Makes sense the suit helps…

Sorry to hear about the torn meniscus man, trying staying healthy CP! (I kid, I kid–but not really)

Shitty news Crew. Maybe start mega-dosing with the fish oil now.

Oh yea man. I did that and I’ve been double dosing my joint supplements. The knee is getting better pretty quickly, but not quick enough for this meet.

I’m going to try the knee out on some light leg work today and see how it goes…I just can’t stay out of the gym

On Sunday if the knee is better I plan on wrapping it and trying some deadlifts.

Oh and since I’m a little less active at the moment I’ve cleaned up my diet.

Now it looks like this:

Breakfast: whole eggs, protein shake, fruit

Snack: PB sandwich and chicken breast

Lunch: Varies but usually meat and a carb like rice or potatoes

Snack: PB sandwich and Tuna

Pre-work: carbs and BCAA’s

Post-Workout: SURGE, then 20-30min later a simple carb

Dinner: Meat and veggies

Before bed: Protein shake with almonds

With both of my shakes I take my joint supplements, with lunch I take a multi, and before bed I take Flameout.

So I tried the Spike all day energy today…

Freak’en great!!

Took it 2 hrs ago and it still feels like I just took it. A++ in my book.

(Long day at work last night so I was dragging ass today, but not anymore!)

Hiya CrewPierce

just wanted to ask, are you gonna do a clinic wrap up article lik Bartl and Gus did? just because Shugs didn’t find it very interesting that doesn’t mean the rest of us didn’t.

Cheers G

Hey G,
I doubt it as I have never been approached to do one. I suspect it’s for two reason. First, they thought my clinic was boring and let’s face it, I didn’t have the best star rating by the end of it. Secondly I’m a numbers guy and my writing abilities are now where near that of Bartl’s.

So I can not suggest hoping for a clinic wrap-up from me. Thank you thought for expressing interest in one, good to know some people enjoyed it

CP

So updates on training:

I was able to squat 225 for 8 reps on Saturday and although my knee was sore as hell at the wedding later that day my knee is feeling much more loose and flexible. I suspect I had to break through some scar tissue to get it going again.

I deadlifted 405 on Sunday, although it was more like I stiff leg deadlifted 405. Amazing how the body tries to project itself even when you want to push it to it’s limits. Because my knee is still slightly weak my legs would shoot up and lockout right away, making the deadlift all lower back. Oh well, at least I was still able to go heavy.

My morning weight is 195, right where I needed to be for the meet on Sat. although I will no longer be competing in the meet. I will however be helping to run the meet! I will be running the loading program and working the table. I figured I would at least help out if I couldn’t compete.

So what’s with my star rating? I get hurt and it goes to shit lol. Thanks for the love guys, y’all are a real pick-me-up when a guys down. Hahaha

Training partner Andy with Nash’s opener squat weight.

Sorry to hear you won’t be competing at the meet, but glad you will be helping out to run the show.

And I just gave you a five-star rating, maybe it will boost your overall rating back up.

Haha thanks man.

Yea I wouldn’t bail on the UPA just because I couldn’t compete. They are a great bunch of people who I enjoy hanging out with so I’ll do whatever I can to help out their meet.

Pissed I can’t compete though, my squat was right where I wanted it to be. Oh well, next time.

Nash with his squat. Blurry picture, but everyone loves to see pictures haha gotta please people to get my star rating up!

:stuck_out_tongue:

So I benched 205 for 5 reps with no leg drive. I tried to get some leg drive into it, but it hurt like hell.

Did some incline bench.

Did clean and press with 175. Did a few sets of 2-3 with this. Again not much leg drive.

Here are some pictures of the meet.

The first one is my set-up at the meet. I was running the music and the lifters order/weight for the whole thing. This job was wayyyy more stressful than I was expecting.

The next 2 pictures are just random ones I was able to snap off between lifts.

Last one.

The meet went well and no one got hurt so it was a good day. I of course couldn’t compete and my 2 training partners didn’t have the days they wanted. Nash squatted well over 800 RAW at a BW of 275. He unracked the 905 and while it was on his back he said, “Nope, not today” and put it back on the hooks. He did the smart thing and didn’t get hurt. He’ll get that weight soon for sure.

Shannon missed her 315 RAW bench but gave it a run for it’s money. She had a great day though from my point of view, but I know she wasn’t happy.

The spotters got their workouts in and made some incredible saves! These included grabbing a 800lb squat when the lifter put the weight back in the hooks before the monolift was locked in place and them catching a 700lb bench press when the lifters arm slipped off the bar. Great job to all of them on sat!
