I think that’s a PR by virtue of me not having done sixes much. Probably had a rep in the tank. 185x5 is still the mark to beat, though. Did a few pronated chins and wide-grip pulldowns (the last remaining movements that pissed off my injury) and they feel pretty much fine now. I think I’m gonna continue with the coaching I’m receiving for another ~month, then go back to doing my own thing. Doggrcapp has been looking interesting to me lately (again).

Tweaked something around my right scapula doing curls. Which is kinda funny, given that it held up through multiple sets of deadlifts (one at 97% of my PR 5RM) and chins. Hopefully I’ll be good to go on Monday.

Press 2.0: 172.5x4, 185x5 (Match PR)
Squat: 320x6/7
Machine Row: 200x8/8
Leg Curls:190x8

Press just keeps feeling better every time I do it. My grip is closer, my bar-path is closer to my face, and I’m getting better at cheating with my stretch reflex and double-layback. It has been a rather annoying ~3-month detour, but I’m now back to semi-realistically aiming for 225 soon.

On the other hand, I’ve been squatting in a way that I suck at (closer stance, elevated heels, trying to freeze knees at the bottom of the rep and lean forwards) which is why the numbers haven’t climbed back up to PR territory yet. The hope is that it’s getting me strong in new ways, and when I switch back to what I’m good at (flat feet, wide stance, less forwards lean… sorta like the sumo analogue to a squat now that I think about it) I’ll be able to throw on weight quickly.

That looked like an easy PR! Lots of highlights: fast off the ground, hair flying, belt being violently unsnapped. Good stuff

@throwawayfitness Thanks!
@heretolog It felt pretty easy as I was pulling it :] I definitely have a long runway now to set some PRs on that lift.

Just received an invitation to interview with Harvard Law School.

About 75% of applicants who receive an interview there are ultimately accepted.

Interview is set for Tuesday afternoon. I talked with my University’s pre-law advisor today for some general guidance, and will spend the weekend filling out a spreadsheet of every question I can find a record of Harvard having asked in the past six years + my response if asked. I’m three-for-three on converting interviews into admissions so far, but this is by far the most important one.

So after you are accepted……big steak dinner? It seems fitting.

@tlgains Definitely a good occasion to cough up a few bucks for a ribeye. But I gotta actually get in first lol.

Done. Very happy with how I performed. Will hear back from them around January/February, and if I get in that’s pretty much the end of my application cycle.
