Professor X wrote:Protein doesn’t cause acne either. Are you all washing your faces? Actually, cheap Whey proteins often cause mild allergic reactions. Some people get stuffy (Berardi), others get puffy in the face (me) and yet others breakout. Breaking out from cheap protein is actually quite common. Switch proteins - use something higher in quality like Grow!.
If protein was actually the cause of the acne, then it wouldn’t matter whether it was cheap or not. If someone has an allergic reaction (which does not include acne) to protein, then they have it to ANY protein.

for those of you who have gotten acne while using creatine monohydrate, you say the breakouts start about a week or two after use. but u all said that it reverts itself a few weeks later even if u keep using it?
Exactly, that in itself tells us that it isn’t the creatine. If these guys are teenagers, they will get acne regardless of whether they use creatine or not.

i?m 34 years,so no i?m not a teenager.
but i am very prone to acne.and i also know what im talking about, since i have to constantly keep looking what to eat to keep my skin looking ok. my guess is that these products raise hormone levels in the body and thats the reason why this happens(acne&oily skin).
trust me,i?v used alot of diffrend kind`s of creatine and proteins in 20 years.
ofcourse creatine not that long, about 6-7 years.

If you are 34 and very prone to acne, that doesn’t make you much different than the comment I made about teenagers. I said “teenagers” BECAUSE they are prone to acne. That means why blame the creatine if you always get acne in the first place? It isn’t creatine’s fault that you got acne. If blaming creatine makes you feel better, just remember, the next time you get a headache, it must be from your toothpaste. If you get a stomach ache? That’s right…your hair brush did it. Whatever you do, don’t accept responsibility for anything that happens to you…you can always blame something.
yes,and smoking dont kill. its cancer that does it.
if i dont use creatine for a month=no oily skin. i start to use it=after a week i get it. stop using it=goes back to normal. after about 15-20 times this happens, ive got to be an idiot if i don`t get the connection.
was this simple enough?
I’m with Prof X on this one. There is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that creatine causes acne. NONE.
If you’re getting acne it is not from the creatine in your product. However, if you’re truly concerned the absolute benefit of creatine isn’t that huge anyway. Drop it out.
R u all even drinking enough water? I find the high doses of caffeine make me breakout, especially if I dont take in enouhg water…but I recently started using creatine and never got a breakout. If i drop my caffeine intake my breakout doesn’t oocur… as soon as I increase it I’ll get a breakout…

Uh, so caffeine causes the acne? If so, why mention creatine?

And someone mentioned something about hormonal changes from creatine? Is that the injectable kind that comes in a D-bol vial? Please send me some of that creatine.
WTF is wrong with you guys? Either the benefit of creatine (or caffeine or whatever the fck you take) outweighs the (supposed) side effects, or it doesn’t. If you have already determined (correctly or not) that creatine causes acne, then who the fck cares who else has the same problem? It depends on the individual.
Professor X: Obviously, I’m with you. Although your intentions are good, it looks like you are wasting your time.
I vote this as the dumbest T-Nation thread EVER. Why am I wasting MY time?
Just another acne free creatine user,
