Can't Eat Meat. What Now?

Got some bad news today, doctor told me to cut down on meats due to an acne problem. I’ve been having pretty decent progress now, got 6lbs of lean mass in my first month of training and 12lbs by the third month.
I’m sure my progress would be stalled real bad due to the fact that I have to stay away from meat. So my question is, what kind of training should I do now? Since I can’t bulk anymore. Thanks

… poultry, pork, and fish are not red meats.

you’re really gonna stop bulking and progressing because of an acne problem? cmon.

if this is a troll, try harder.

pathetic excuses - did he give an actual reason?

<–Loves the idea of a doctor taking the many variables in a person’s life and deciding that the meat consumption is what’s driving the acne problems. olol.

Just a head’s up…but I wouldn’t believe 99% of the stuff people say their doc told them.

LOL @ red meat causes acne.

This must be some new research as a cousin of mine was told the same thing.

Doctor told her that; meat, sunshine, dairy, and too much cardio was causing her acne problems.

I didn’t even know what to say, I mean SUNSHINE and MEAT? WTF are doctors talking about.

I couldn’t agree more.

A 16 year old with acne? Yeah, must really be from too much meat. Ugh. “Lolwtflol” would be my reaction too.

Was this a dermatologist or just your general pediatrician?

What did they say, exactly? “Eat less meat”, “eat less red meat/steak/beef”, or “eat less protein”?

What’s your current height and weight?

You don’t need to change your training. Change your diet.

Depending on exactly what the doc said to avoid, you can still get plenty of protein from eggs, tuna, chicken, non-dairy or low lactose shakes, etc. That, plus plenty of carbs, fats, and calories should let you stay on track depending on a few other factors (training, current weight and condition/fat).

Sunshine causing skin problems? That wasn’t acne, it was sparkles.

Your cousin is a vampire.

Be careful.

I thought that was crazy too. The doctor told her to stay out of the sun as it promotes oil secretion in the skin which then turns to acne. While that might be true I just have a hard time believing humans evolved to the point that sunshine now harms the skin.

It is probably more like: Due to the amount of chemicals you ingest and sugar you eat in a day your body’s hormones are out of wak. This manifests itself as acne for you specifically which it then made worse by doing something as natural as walking outside during daylight. To remedy this problem just don’t go in the sun.

Not really addressing the underlying issue, in my opinion.

in case anyone cares, my girlfriend’s acne problem improved dramatically when she gave up wheat. At least that’s what she thinks it was.

sunlight actually helps acne in the short-term since UV rays kill bacteria on the skin and very slightly into pores but is known to in the long-term cause acne in some individuals. I forgot the reasoning behind it but I’m sure you could find some research on the subject if you were to choose the correct filter on a proper database. Fuck not having a college library access anymore. Anyone interested enough and able to find out for us?

No, not a troll. What the doc said was that some meats contain hormones to make the animals grow faster and that makes my condition even worse. I guess one option is to eat organic. And no, not a vampire either. I’m really bummed, I’ve been having good (I think?) progress and this comes along. By the way, she’s a dermatologist, what she said was that give her 6 months and she’ll clear your acne up no matter how bad.
My two cousins swear by her treatments, one took 4 months the other took 7. Thanks for the replies everyone, appreciate it

Your doc is full of shit.

People would be scarfing down cows like breath mints if you got “mouth steroids” from them.

I had acne at 16 too.

I don’t now.

I eat more red meat now.

Go figure.

It’s not only red meat, other meats as well. And it’s not the meat that causes it, it’s the growth hormones in the animals, needed to clarify this in case everyone starts misquoting me as saying it’s red meat that’s the cause. But thanks anyway for your opinion, really appreciate it

…OK…so growth hormones in the meat are causing your acne?

Boy, those hormones should be doing a hell of a lot more than that.

Any gigantism?

Acromegaly?

Huge muscular weight gains?

Thanks alot man, the only reason I went to a dermatologist is because I’ve tried all the over-the-counter creams. Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, aloe vera, you name it, I’ve tried it.

I don’t like this one bit alright. I can understand why you’ll think I’m a troll, but I’m not. And for the record, it’s not red meats. It’s meats from animals that had growth hormones injected in them.

You cannot eat hormones. Youre a bit too young to understand the science but trust me when I say that you cant just take hormones and eat them to get their side effects.
