I’ve been Olympic Lifting for 3 and a half years. Recently I’m finding my knees very stiff after training. During training its fine after I warm up with a couple of triples at 50-60%.
But outside of training and without a heavy weight to help if I squat down I find it difficult to stand up again. I’ve only had this in the last 6 months or so. Any recommendations for stretches or exercises to help with this stiffness?
I have a similar problem. Try to do body weight squats, or if you have a home gym squat some with the bar is what I do, and it helps quite a bit for me. Or trying some running/jogging my joints feel better after my warmups for running.
its just a mobility issue, more than likely it is due to the increased hypertrophy due to the heavy squatting paired with a fairly inactive lifestyle. I.e. you squat heavy then hardly ever move through that range of motion (or any range really unless you are moving around all day) till the next workout. The new tissue being laid down is not very “directed”, the best way to get rid of this is to well squat more.
Every hour sit in a third world squat for a minute. Make this a habit and your joints will thank you in the long run.
(I may be explaining this badly but forgive me i’m running on fumes right now).

That makes sense. For my job I basically sit at a desk for 10 hours each day, doing sweet f all in terms of physical activity. Also if I think about it in the last 6 months I’ve been driving to work instead of cycling so this probably led to even an even more inactive lifestyle.
