@countrygirl2016 you’re not creeping on anybody! You’re a lovely lady and a nice person and it clearly shows. You’re log is awesome.
Btw T-Nation forum isn’t just for logging workouts, its like a lifting community for likeminded people to discuss training, support/egg each other on in whatever they’re doing, give advice or even just have a friendly chat.
You’re not a dumbass. Injuries happen to everyone! I injured my shoulders a little ( it was minor) on incline bench at the end of last year. I’m sure down the road I’ll mess something up real bad and be out for a while.
Agreed. I’m in the #TalkAboutOurDay crew. Sets and reps and PRs are fun, but it’s nice to talk to people who I have similar interests as, even if we aren’t talking about lifting weights. Besides, this is your training log. You can do whatever you want with it hahaha
@duketheslaya that was really sweet and thoughtful! I appreciate your comments. I’m not good at giving fitness advice but try to support others in different ways. There are a lot of great people on here that inspire me. It’s just really hard to see everyone moving forward but me.
@lava2007 haha true I can do whatever in my log! Also true… talking to people that I have so much in common with is refreshing. I love being here because the people I live around are far from fitness minded and don’t understand why I care. They seem to think at a specific age you just accept being out of shape.
@losthog good question and I didn’t post the full story out of embarrassment… I did a lot of lifting in and out of the gym on a regular basis. I had a killer pain in my abdomen and was told that I pulled a muscle. I also had a massive pain in my pelvic area on the same side and shooting pains down my leg. I didn’t say anything about that part because I figured it was from my abdominal pain and was embarrassed. It was to the point that I was so nauseous from the all the pain and I couldn’t eat. I made it through the workday went home and took a shower and laid in bed. If something needed to be done like lifting feed buckets I did it and probably made things worse. Turns out that I severely messed up my pelvic area from lifting too much weight.
Sorry for the long explanation
Dammit Girl.
But this is absolutely why og what TN is all about. I can’t talk to many people about training an injuries.
But here I/we can.
We’re all in the same boat, have the same passion and we know and care for each other. Even though we don’t know each other very much other than an avatar and a funny name. When we dig into a log, we find a person, somewhere in the lines we might even find the name behind the funny name and a lot of time we find a physique picture and a video showing the person behind.
I had an injured Psoas (deep abdomen muscle). It took forever to get rid of the damn thing.
But when I finally did know what to do and especially what not to. I was able to do some work.
Keep posting girl, and we will be following along, might even give a comment or just a bad joke or a gif.
Abdominal injuries are so annoying. I couldn’t sit straight up out of bed or the couch for over a month. Had to do an awkward roll thing. Would have been hilarious if it wasn’t so painful!
I had a lymph node remove from my groin area. The 2 weeks of rest turn out more like 6 weeks of hell. Followed with some minor tear but major pain months later.
Second bout was during hay! Yes most horse place are still on small square bales up in a loft.
Farm life is not just driving tractor and cute baby animals?
@mortdk I really appreciate what you said! I do like that people post about injuries for support and to help others learn from them. I didn’t mind posting that I hurt my abdominal muscle but then finding out the other is what embarrassed me.
Everyone is so nice and supportive on here and I do feel like people care. I guess last night just got to me with the aggravation but you all have helped a lot!! I didn’t want to seem like I’m only here to talk to people but that seems like all I have at the moment until I can do more. Thank you for being so nice I’ll still be creeping around!!
@donnerschweer it’s nice to know you understand too! Thank you for your post. There is so much that needs to be done and sometimes being injured and taking a break isn’t an option.
I am feeling much better today and just hit a rough patch last night. It was hard to hear everything that goes along with the pelvic area issue. I lifted too heavy and really messed myself up. From what I’ve been told it affects the internal areas causing stabbing pains along with other discomfort. As I said I was embarrassed and scared something was seriously wrong. I’m thankful to know what’s going on and have a plan to fix it but it’s just going to take longer then I wanted. Thank you for the positive vibes and being an outstanding support! I will continue to keep creeping on you all as I recover
I’m not sure where you’re at with your injury but I was on a weird modified training program for 12 weeks while my hip labrum healed. I’m just now starting my journey to get back to where I was before surgery. It may seem like everyone is moving forward but you’re in good company in the injury department. It’s just hard to tell because most people throw in the towel and quit training altogether when injuries creep up. And they bail on the forum because they’re not training and don’t think they have anything to share/offer.
If all else fails you can just read the garbage threads like the few that have popped up in the Bigger Stronger Leaner category this week.
@Frank_C your absolutely right with throwing in the towel and how easy it would be to give up at this point. I’ve also had my family in my ear telling me how they warned me about lifting too heavy to them a lady shouldn’t lift heavy things but when they need help moving something they don’t hesitate to ask!!
I honestly mean when I say your log has been very helpful for me to read. You seem pretty smart and are motivating with your post.
The doctor ran a bunch of scans so I go back to therapy on Wednesday for a new plan and see where we go from here.
LOL thanks for the recommendation… I’ll have to creep in on that forum and I’m sure be entertained!
Various types of hernias and other embarrassing topics…cough…hemorrhoids… not naming names to protect the innocent … have been discussed in these logs.
Re: pelvic floor, I could tell you a seriously horrifying story about getting stitches there by a medical resident who seemed to be in his first day of training. I can’t believe I said “Ok” to that. What was I thinking?? Lol! It wasn’t lifting related (post delivery) so don’t freak. Haha. Seriously, it’s good you’re seeing your Doc so she can look for these things. FYI, you know I’ve had a belly button hernia so I can’t get them off my mind. Inguinal hernias are less common in women, but they do happen, and they’re sometimes overlooked at first, so it’s good you got checked out. Hopefully you’re back on your game in a few weeks!!
Edited: Don’t even think about getting some of these PLers talking about the Valsalva maneuver and associated err… how to put this… undignified incidents. Lol.
