correcting pigeon feet

I have a nephew who is five years of age and has problems with his hips/legs/feet. He is pigeon toed and this will affect his athletic abilities later on down the road. From what I heard from one doctor, he will grow out of it by the age of twelve yrs. My mom doesn’t believe this will happen and said that he needs to do exercises for his hips to help correct the condition. Should I suggest a Physical Therapist? Any ideas?

My daughter was pigeon toed. We had some corrective shoes made. They had what is called a “Dutch patch” on the sole. It causes that part of the foot to contact the ground first and it pushes it around to a more correct alignment. That trains the muscles to line it up the correct way. I’d have them seen by a specialist instead of the family MD. I don’t think it corrects itself all of the time. Good luck.

I was pigeon toed when I was a kid. The doc said I need leg braces (ala Forrest Gump)…right not a chance. All I did was concentrate on walking straight and I grew out of it by like 12 or something.

what the fudge are pigeon toes/feet? or as my canadian friends would say… what the fudge are pigeon toes/feet eh?

Pigeon-toes means that the person walks with their toes pointing slightly inwards. From what I hear, its pretty common with young children and most grow out of it naturally by the time they’re 8 years old.
